Daruma Workshop in KYOTO Kiyomizudera by Terakoya Ikuryu
On Sunday, August 6, 2023, a Dharma workshop will be held at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a World Heritage site.
The workshop will consist of two parts: "Dharma Sculpture" in the morning and "Dharma Coloring" in the afternoon.
In the morning workshop, participants will carve Dharma dolls from a piece of wood that has already been roughly shaped using a carving knife. The time required is approximately 3 hours.
In the afternoon, participants polish and color the mostly formed Dharma body with sandpaper, then attach the prepared eyes and nose to complete the work. The time required is approximately 2 hours.
