What to expect
Let's embark on a walking tour where you can enjoy Fushimi, one of Japan's three major sake brewing areas, and its historical and charming townscape!
First, we will stop by the museum of Gekkeikan Sake Company, Kyoto’s largest sake brewery, which also has a factory in California, USA. Here, you can learn about sake through exhibits of traditional sake brewing tools and theater screenings. Enjoy the tasting of Junmai Daiginjo, the pinnacle of Japanese sake!
After that, at Kizakura Sake Brewery, you can enjoy not only sake but also Kyoto craft beer. Kizakura Sake Brewery is famous for being the first to create local beer. A tasting of Kyoto beer is included in the price here.
At "Fushimi Sakagura Koji," operated with the support of 17 sake breweries belonging to the Fushimi Sake Brewers Association, you can enjoy local Fushimi sake and dishes from all over Japan. The 17-Types Sake Tasting Set, which is often featured on Instagram and other social media platforms, is sure to be photogenic!
Fushimi Yumehyakushu utilizes the former main store of Gekkeikan, built over 100 years ago. Here, we offer sake ice cream made from sake for those who do not like alcohol or pregnant women. It is very popular with women and children.
Finally, we have prepared a sake tasting with explanations from the manager of the sake shop called Aburacho.
Please join us on a tour where you can enjoy not only sake knowledge but also the charming streets of Kyoto! We are waiting for you.

Reviews
We had a fantastic time on our tour, and that was all thanks to our guide Kimu! He was very friendly, spoke great English (and Chinese!) and was very knowledgable about everything on the tour. I highly recommend this tour. We learned so much about the sake making process, and especially how to read sake labels to figure out what grade and type of sake we are buying, and also the recommended temperature to serve the sake. The sake tasting was all a bonus! The locations were all beautiful and full of history, we even got to see a very rare yellow sakura in bloom.
We all absolutely enjoyed this Tour. Our guide was very friendly and even had the challenge of speaking two languages at once but he did so good. He made sure we each understood all we saw, read, tasted and was very kind and personable. We highly recommend this tour as you get to see a side of Kyoto we’d have otherwise missed and it was a very beautiful walk and you go at your pace!
We loved our Sake walking tour and our guide so much! An incredible experience to see Kyoto and all the brewery’s from a personable and private tour. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and helped in guiding tastings to our tastes. Would definitely recommend this experience to anyone going to Kyoto, a great way to see some amazing history and architecture along with tasting some beautiful sake :)
We had a wonderful time learning about the sake making process. Too bad the other brewery was closed for rennovations. We enjoyed how our tour guide extended the his time w us and showed us hidden restaurants within the area.
Our guide, Karen, was such a wonderful guide. She show us around the town including the sake breweries and musuem. She also help us on finding souvenirs (which my partner and I have very specific items we want) Its definitely a must for sake lovers (and anyone who visits the Fushimi area - including the Fushimi Inari Shrine)
it was a personal tour with our amazing guide Marin. she was super sweet and fun. we got to learn a lot about sake and which kinds we personally prefer.
Thank you for the most interesting tour we’re ever had!! we’re so happy we booked it. Bob was the best! we learned a lot and tried the best Sake! very recommend!!
We were lucky to have Bob as our tour guide. He was so interesting and really engaged in conversation with us. The tour was awesome, very educational and informative. I was surprised at the extensive process in the creation of Sake. The interesting fact is you don't get a hangover at all and we drank all day! I highly recommend this tour.
The guide and trainee were so much fun! It ended up being a smaller group as another couple cancelled, but that didn't affect the tour at all. The breweries were great, and the sake was plentiful.
Marin was very knowledgeable and detailed in her explanation of sake and the area as well. The ice cream at the end was an excellent way to end the tour. Enjoyed our group and her as guide.
