Our tour guide Tania was amazing and sweet. We had 14 people on our bus. Milford Sound is absolutely stunning—one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. Surrounded by towering cliffs, lush rainforests, and cascading waterfalls, the views are nothing short of spectacular. Every angle feels like a postcard. The fjord has a peaceful, almost surreal atmosphere. The reflections on the water are mirror-like. If you're visiting New Zealand, Milford Sound is a must-see.
We booked this particular tour knowing it was a small crew and wanted that extra bit of authenticity. Tania was an amazing tour guide with heaps of knowledge and an all round great kiwi Woman. We had 12 people on our bus whom were all lovely people. The cruise itself was was Cruise Milford which was a smaller boat compared to the bigger companies which was amazing! lots of room to walk around or leave your items on the couches inside. We purposely booked on a rainy day so we were able to see the temporary waterfalls in action. We were lucky enough to see a Kea bird in our way back and it started snowing near the tunnel. Overall was a great day. We were picked up at 8am from Te Anau and got back home at 5pm.
It’s slightly more expensive than the other tours but let me tell you, it’s so worth it. It was a small group tour and everyone was super friendly. Our guide, Tanya was incredibly knowledgable and sweet. She stopped at many beautiful locations along the way to the Milford Sound cruise for us to take photos and even have a picnic of scones, coffee and tea. They also provide lunch for the cruise and it was delish! Overall would definitely recommend to family and friends.
We had a wonderful time on the tour. We were picked up from our accommodation on time. Our tour guide Stephen was very knowledgeable about a lot of things and we made a few stops to see some other sites along the way to Milford Sound. The cruise was majestic. It was slightly raining which made more waterfalls. Our cruise was not crowded so it was easy to see from any viewing point on the boat. A picnic lunch was included in the price of the tour and your choice of sandwich was taken prior to the tour. The whole day was fabulous. I would highly recommend this tour. A+++
Super worth it! Our guide/driver was so experienced and he also brought us to special places to take pictures. He was kind and careful, always looking out for us. His driving skills in the snow (yes it snowed!) at milford was also tip top
Our tour guide, Jamie was really kind, fun and informative. The misty mountain view at Mildford Sound was amazingly stunning. Oh and we saw dolphine too! Worth the trip 😄
I really liked Tania, our driver and tour guide. She was enthusiastic and diligently explained everything along the way to Milford Sound. She also let us get out and take photos at various scenic spots. The whole experience was relaxed and enjoyable, and we didn't feel rushed at all. It might have been because it was the off-season in winter, so it was a small, intimate group (our family of four plus a family of three from Australia), making a total of seven people, which was especially nice. The cruise that was partnered with for the Milford Sound boat tour was also excellent. The staff on board thoughtfully pointed out key attractions and even proactively helped us take photos – so considerate! There were several hot drinks and delicious cookies available on board. The lunch provided on the tour was very generous, with sandwiches, drinks, fruit, cheese, and cookies... On the way back, Tania even treated us to her homemade delicious brownies, which was such a treat. An irreplaceable and wonderful experience for me ❤️
Overall excellent tour and guide not only for Milford Sound but for the stops along the way and having someone to take photos for us. There were a large number of knats in the back of the ~15 passenger bus. Dirt/grime on the back of the window/plastic and trunk contributed/attracted them. I swatted about 30. Overall great experience minus the transfer with knats in the back of the bus.
They had the best tourguide- very informational, humourous, and caring! He knew where all the good spots were, even those that are not usually on the itinerary?! He was very flexible on the destinations when the weather weren’t in our favour, and still had a great time. it’s a little more pricey than the rest of the coaches tour, but trust me, it’s definitely worth the money for this smaller tour… during the insane weather that we had, the coaches didn’t even make it up to Milford sound. We were lucky enough!!! 10/10 would reccomend. Thank you steven!’
Small group tour of up to 15 pax with pick-up at our respective lodgings. The guide Peter was entertaining and knowledgeable. There were frequent stops to and from Milford Sound so the long journey was ok. There was even hot drinks & scones for a tea session at 1 of the stops. Milford Sound cruise itself was ok. We did not pay for the lunch as it was pricey for the food provided. We saw the packs given to the others who ordered. Simply not worth the extra NZD25 per pax for the food. It did not look appetising. We brought along our own yummy and cheaper breads/sandwiches. Post-cruise there were a few stops with a short hike to Lake Gunn too. This tour is highly recommended. Saves u the stress of driving to Milford Sound yourself and getting to the cruise on time.
