Reviews summarygreat start to finish 9am on time and reached Athens station 11pm~. Shoutout to Yanis our driver, safe driver and Vassou our tour guide, she was friendly and knowledgeable!! saw 3 monasteries inside and they even brought us to view the 4th one although from outside as that closes early but it’s fine .. it’s the first monastery built and the most gorgeous one! worth the steps to visit all 3 monasteries. lunch was great too. only downside was the dinner which was very expensive , guess typical tourist trap euro20 for 2 souvlaki skewers w fries, salad and a water bottle. there’s other food options which I overheard other passengers complaining about the prices they had to pay as well. but other than that, beautiful trip! enough toilet breaks w toilets in the monasteries we visited
a beautiful place. the guide was amazing. the travel well organized. the lunch food is okay, you buy the drinks. the only issue i had was during the start of the trip. it was a bit disorganized where i had to run bus by bus looking for my tour because there will be a lot of bus in the meeting point with different meteora tours and you wont know where is yours. i recommend you go early for buffer time, look at your name in the list the drivers carry rather than asking them, coz they dont know which is which either if u just show them your ticket. otherwise, it was a fun trip. 10/10
The itinerary was very well planned 👍🏻. At the start, there were many vans outside the station, and each driver held a list outside their vehicle. You find your name and then board the car. After driving for two hours, there's a rest stop, and upon arrival four hours later, we had a meal. We purchased the tour that included lunch, where you could choose your main course, and for the appetizer, you could select either Greek salad or fruit (which was watermelon!). The portion size was just right and surprisingly suited Asian palates 😳. After eating, the English-speaking group and Spanish-speaking group were separated into different vehicles. We visited a total of three monasteries. Our young tour guide, Maria, was super friendly, and her explanations were professional and clear. Each monastery had its own unique characteristics; some required more physical effort to climb stairs. The guide always provided ample time and many helpful suggestions. Entry to each monastery was optional at 5 euros, but the views inside are truly different, so I highly recommend going in (it's very beautiful!). The guided tour concluded around 7 PM, after which we returned to the restaurant for a restroom break before driving straight back to Athens, with another two-hour stop at a rest area. It's important to be mindful of time and your physical condition, and remember to bring some food and water. There are no restrooms on the bus, but there are USB charging ports (some of which were not working). We arrived in Athens around 11 PM, as predicted. It's definitely worth going!
One of the best highlights of my Athens trip. Even though it was a long trip, around 4 hours one way, it was organized very well, so we could have enough time exploring 3 monasteries and take some photos with great views in the backdrop. Transport was comfortable, and the guide was super nice and helpful, and explained all the details we needed to know about the area. Well worth the time and money. Recommended for anyone.
Meteora is a must-visit when you go to Athens! Since it's hard to get there on your own and local transportation is difficult, a tour is essential. I was skeptical at first: Is it really worth spending 8 hours round-trip from Athens just to see this? But the moment I finally arrived at Meteora and saw the breathtaking, overwhelming visual of the massive cliffs and the monasteries perched on top, I instantly woke up and thought to myself, "I'm so glad I came." Since there is nowhere else in the world quite like Meteora, I believe it's a must-visit, even if it takes up a whole day. Above all, while most Greeks were kind, I want to give a special thank you to our guide, who was extra kind, took pictures enthusiastically, and helped me capture the shot of a lifetime. With the Meteora tour, your day turns into a National Geographic special. Scenery:
Travelled 1 Dec 2025, weather was crisp, there were no crowds, it was worth paying the additional 5 Euros to enter each monastery. lunch and dinner stops were expensive and not tasty. views were amazing. would definitely recommend it.
Our tour guide, Chiment from Canada, and our driver, Tossle (sorry if I spelled your name wrong), were amazing! They showed us all 6 monasteries in Meteora with great passion and excellent time management. They also shared a lot of interesting information about this unique place. Everything was well organized, and we never felt rushed. I highly recommend this tour!
We had a wonderful time at Meteora and recommend taking this day tour if you are short on time. We found the day to be very comfortable on the coaches and the time allocated to each open monastery was adequate. We had plenty of time for photographs, for wandering through the monasteries, and marveling at this incredibly unique natural place. Maria, our guide, was excellent, very comprehensive, and used visual aids. There are a lot of steps but they are not steep and opportunities to rest on the pathways.
Itinerary: The tour bus is very easy to find, as it's basically right by the train station. The drivers nearby are very helpful. Tour Guide: The tour guide provides detailed information about the unique characteristics of each monastery. They are also very responsive and helpful when answering questions. Scenery: I believe this trip to the outskirts of Athens is a must-do day trip. The scenery is spectacular, with different monasteries perched on the cliffs. You might even see rock climbing enthusiasts scaling the cliffs.
Visiting Meteora was one of the most unforgettable and inspiring experiences I have ever had. Seeing the breathtaking monasteries perched high on top of the mountains was truly extraordinary and unlike anything I had seen before. The beauty of the landscape, combined with the peaceful and sacred atmosphere of these holy places, made the visit deeply meaningful and memorable. It was an incredible experience that I will always cherish.
