THIS PASS WAS REALLY WORTH IT. I saved a lot even if I only used it for 4 days around the Kyushu area, then bullet train to Osaka, and finally getting to Universal Studios Japan. Redemption was fairly easy. Redeemed from Hakata station and the line was not too long. Despite being almost near closing time, they still accommodated me, and even assisted in booking tickets in advance. I was able to reserve seats on Two Stars 4047, which was one of the best sightseeing trains I experienced. Planning to go back to Kyushu, and will definitely use this again!!
I found this incredibly useful for my two-week trip, which started in Osaka and ended in Fukuoka. I had accommodation in Osaka and made round trips to Hiroshima and Tottori. Then, I moved on to Kumamoto, Beppu, and Fukuoka to conclude my journey. Considering my itinerary, I was very satisfied with how affordable it was. It's similar to a subway pass without a QR code; you just reserve your seat at the counter and board, or you can board immediately in the unreserved section without a reservation.
I'm not sure the benefits of getting it directly from JR vs Klook but they are the same price. At least you can earn Klook points if that's your jam. I got my JR pass thing in the mail and you go to the JR station and tell them when you want it active (ok the day of too). You can reserve seats at the JR station offices for more complicated places like Nagasaki as you'll need to transfer trains at least once. BTW it's literally a platform over and within like 3 minutes which is very easy. I was freaking out I would miss it but you're just exiting and moving to the adjacent train. If you're not sure if you'll get your value out of this pass, just google search JR train calculator. I used it for Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Nagaski, Hiroshima, Osaka.
I save 2/3 of my transportation cost especially using shinkansen using this pass. If you plan a multi city trip for more than 7 days, I recommend this. You can have your base of stay in Fukuoka or Hiroshima and have all other destinations from Kansai to northern Kyushu as day trip.
This rail pass was extremely convenient and great value for money. It made traveling around Kyushu, Hiroshima (even Miyajima Island), Kyoto and nearby regions very easy, with unlimited rides on JR trains. Redemption was smooth, and the pass helped save both time and transportation costs. Highly recommended for anyone doing multi-city travel in Japan.
We used this JR pass to travel to 6 prefectures and we’re able to save a lot! We used this to ride the Huis Ten Bosch and Yufu trains (Yufuin no mori was already sold out) and shinkansen going to Osaka and Hiroshima (from Hakata). Redemption in the JR ticket office was hassle-free. We also reserved seats through the help of the staff. Additionally, we also used the green machines to reserve seats. If you plan your trip strategically, you’d also be able to maximize this pass. Make sure to plan ahead so you’d know which trains to take and which seats to reserve. I’d say this pass was truly a lifesaver and I can’t recommend it enough to those who will be travelling to Kyushu, Chugoku, and Kansai regions.
having this is very convenient since it is unlimited. even if you ride wrong jr lines at least you have peace of mind that you can just ride another one without getting additional charges. finally was able to ride the hello kitty shinkansen with the use of this pass!
This pass is perfect if you want to travel between Kansai and north Kyushu area. we used it many times from Osaka to okayama to Hiroshima to Fukuoka all the way to Kumamoto. it also includes Hello kitty shikansen, One piece shikansen, yufuin no mori and other famous trains. Absolutely recommending it!
Highly recommended if you intend to use public transport for your trip to Kyushu area. Unlimited ride on the Shinkansen and all JR trains/buses. Bery easy to use and staff are very helpful. Would recommend.
We have fun using this pass! Our adventure starts from Hakata Station to Yufuin riding the Limited Train Yufuin No Mori then back to Hakata, with daily stops in Hiroshima, Osaka, Huis ten Bosch at Sasebo Nagasaki. The pass can also used by local train and ferry operated by JR Train.
