My husband and I took our rented motorbike and hopped on a 45-minute ferry ride from Donggang. We spent the whole day exploring the many caves of the island. We also walked the "Wild Boar" trench where the locals hid during bombings back in WWII. An amazing discovery was lobster cave, a tiny secluded beach that can be accessed from a little trail above. Someone, some time in the past had attached a rope to a tree so that a person could scrambled down into the little beach.
The distance which between Xiao Liu Qiu and Donggang only 8 nautical miles. You can into a beautiful world different with Donggang city view. Xiao Liu Qiu have rich reefs. Many people will come to here snorkeling. They will find many fish、sea turtle、Sea urchin、Sea Ginseng... On the island you can eat many kind of sea food. Very fresh and delicious but cheap. So ,you must come to here once in your life.
It is a quiet small island, 30 minutes ferry away from Taiwan main island. Compare to the other scattered islands in Taiwan, here is less packed, more authentic and natural. People are nice and friendly there. It was amazing to swim with giant green turtle.
Loved Liuqiu Island! ... It was such a lovely day out - worth taking a bit of suncream though!
A beautiful island with great weather all year round, went there this February and the weather's around 27 degrees C during our stay. Though a little crowded the tiny beaches/shorelines was still enjoyable and especially if you can rent a scooter and circle the island (its not a really big place anyways)
