A beautiful, serene, and off the grid experience. MoonRiver Lodge was quiet, and offered what every nature lover would look for. We arrived late at 7pm in Lojing, and the staff kindly waited for us with the steamboat dinner. Beware of the very hungry cat who’ll come around meowing like a siren haha 🐱 the food served are all fresh, tasted home-cooked and we loved how sweet the cherry tomatoes were! The staff was also polite and looked out for all our needs. The way up to Lojing Highlands was an interesting one - we went with our driver Adi in a Toyota Hilux off the beaten track to the start point, and crossed streams to finally see the Rafflesia Kerrii. It’s an experience to be remembered. Wear long pants where you can roll up, proper hiking shoes, and don’t be afraid to get your shoes wet. Adi and the orang asli guide looked out for my dad, and helped him get through the stream crossing. Along the way, the guides also pointed out the Rafflesia Kerrii bulbs that are going to bloom. Accomodation-wise, it was a rustic room we stayed in, much like a campsite. Shower water pressure was strong, which is wonderful after the hike and for washing mud off your shoes. Simple and no-frills. We’d recommend this place for someone looking to be away from the hustle and bustle, and don’t mind travelling up from Cameron Highlands to Lojing (about an hour drive, look for taxis willing to bring you up at the Tanah Rata Freesia Bus Terminal). Enjoy!
Started with a 4WD into the forest. Then we had an insightful exploration in the jungles with very knowledgeable guides. Highly recommended for a short easy hike (approx 1hr).
What an amazing experience! We were picked up from Moonriver Lodge just after 9am by our guide in a 4x4 and driven to the starting point of the trail (about 20min). We had to cross two rivers and walk for a hour to see the Rafflesia flower and lots of buds. It was magical. Our guide was always making sure we were safe and helped with the river crossings. This experience will stay with us forever. Please note: you need some level of fitness for this tour.
We drove about 1 hour from Cameron Tana Rata and arrived at Moonriver lodge. From there, we were picked up by the driver in a 4 wheel drive. It was roughly a 3 hour round trip trek into the Lojing forest, passing through streams and lush forest to find the Rafflesia. The Orang Asli guide knew where the flowers bloom. Overall an enjoyable, adventurous and memorable trek for the family. Wear covered shoes and long pants! We saw 4 Rafflesia! Amazing and awesome experience.
wonderful trip and a nice tour💮 with nice guides. everthing was organized. we liked the shuttle to the startingpoint. next time again🤗
A wonderful tour. An interesting drive to the trail with rafflesia in the back of a pickup truck. A pleasant experience. The local guide knew the area well and led us along a beautiful trail right to the flowers. We were very lucky and saw a rafflesia bud and then double flowers. I highly recommend it.
The trek was amazing! Our Orang Asli guide and especially the young lady that accompanied us were great. We went through the forest (no river crossing) and it was a proper hike, medium+ intensity. Saw 4 rafflesia along the way! Our only suggestion is that the Moonriver Lodge to be more mindful about this program. We arrived there at 8:45 as suggested and it was deserted. Our driver (who was also great) arrived at 9:15ish. A bit disorganized on the lodge's side. Carry water, mossie repellant and maybe a bit of a light snack, and be ready to get muddy. Overall we would recommed this to anyone who wants to see rafflesia and likes a nice trek in the forest. The meetup point (Moonriver Lodge) is FAR from everywhere so budget extra for your Grab, leave your accomodation accordingly (takes 1 hr from Tanah Rata to get to Moonriver) and ask your driver to pick you back up around 12:30-13:00 because you won't be able to get a Grab back from Moonriver to your accomodation. Many thanks for the young lady (Aisha? Sorry I don't know how to spell your name ^^ ) who made this trek extremely special for us!
loved every single thing about the experience and especially grateful to the guides for being so helpful and knowledgeable and cheerful. Definitely recommend and would do it again myself. Many thanks
This tour became one of my favorite memories in Malaysia! I stumbled upon it while feeling a bit restless in Cameron Highlands, searching for something truly unique—and it did not disappoint. A quick tip: book a taxi in advance, as the meeting point isn’t in Cameron Highlands itself. Once I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Asyida and her father, Edi, who were exceptional hosts—friendly, caring, and genuinely passionate about the experience. They made sure I was safe throughout the hike, which was much appreciated since it had rained the night before, making the terrain quite slippery. One of the unexpected highlights was Edi’s thoughtful gesture—he went out of his way to drive us through the Orang Asli village, even though it wasn’t part of the tour, simply because he noticed my curiosity. The only downside was the lack of communication from the operator beforehand. Since it was raining, I wasn’t sure if the tour was still happening, and unlike my usual experiences with Klook (where I receive direct confirmations), I had to call the operator myself the night before to check. Despite that small hiccup, this tour was absolutely worth it—a truly immersive and authentic adventure. If you're looking for something off the beaten path with incredible hosts, this is it!
We liked this trekking. The road was not difficult, although sometimes we had to go uphill. We saw growing rafflesia. The guide, a good-natured, friendly and very polite man, said that he spoke English very little, but he told us a lot and it was informative. Thank you very much!
