a must go itinerary if you are in the area.. the cave exploration allows us to go deep inside to learn more about cave formation, limestones etc. we chosen stage 2 for dry exploration , and you can opt for stage 4 for deeper and wet exploration. a special show out to our guide Awa, she is very friendly, always reminding us to take note of the steps.. and she is very knowledgeable about the cave and can fee her passion/heart for what she is doing.. we had a great time with her being our guide and we definitely enjoy the whole time of exploration and learning. may try stage 4 the next time
YOU WON'T REGRET BOOKIG THIS TRIP! We had the kindest and most polite tour guide Bob who took my husband and I and our 9 year old daughter through the caves ALL stages! it was absolutely exhilarating, exciting, wonderous and magical! There were parts we had to stop and Bob was great at keeping my daughter engaged! I still can't believe we did this! Bob was super knowledgeable, kept the pace going and kept us motivated and safe. Huge thanks Bob and Riverbug for memories we will treasure for a lifetime! Also the lunch provided by the river at the lodge was such a special touch and was so much appreciated!
Neyo (or Neo) was our tour guide and he was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We travelled through the cave safely with no issues. We learned a lot about the cave system and its features. The food and showers included in the package were a good addition however we had a vegetarian in the group and we were not given a good vegetarian option. Overall a great experience, just need to work on inclusivity.
Highly recommended! It takes 4 hours in total to go from stage 1 to 4 at once, but it is an experience that cannot be had in Japan. First, you go up 1000 steps of the cave stairs to stage 2. You slowly proceed, taking quizzes such as "what kind of stone and what kind of stone pattern looks like" at various places. I was surprised that grass was growing in such a dark cave because of the light from the lighting fixtures. After completing stage 2, you go down the locked stairs, turn on your headlamp (you can rent one for 5RM), and the adventure of walking on the rocks begins. You go through the gravel road, sand road, and between the rocks while feeling the sound of water echoing in the distance. Where a large rock blocks the path, you crawl forward one by one through the gap below, crawl on all fours while half submerged in water, and in deep water you move forward in a low posture as if pushed by the current, and you continue your adventure with the help of a guide. I was worried because the light of the headlamp I borrowed sometimes went out, but since we went in a team of 6, we moved forward while watching the steps of others. Once you go forward, you can't get out to the surface right away, so even children need a certain amount of leg strength and patience (and the spirit to enjoy adventure!). It was unfortunate that there was graffiti and trash inside the cave. This is something that can be said throughout Malaysia, and I think it should be improved. The lunch after the tour was really delicious. I'm glad that RIVERBUG's food is delicious and well-seasoned for Japanese people.
Tour guide Mr. Razi was indeed friendly and knowledgeable. Weather was great and luckily only the two of us plus guide so the pace were on time. The tour was quite challenging especially stage 3 and 4. We started stage 1, 2 then proceeded to 4 and u turn to stage 3. The tour is worth money spent. After caving went back to Ulu River Lodge and took our lunch as it was provided. Afterward, we went to the river to relax. Totally recommend.
Really unforgettable experience, impressive, but really tired haha, suggest to wear long sleeves and paints, with robber shoes would be fine! Our guide Awa is really helpful, trustworthy and professional, highly recommended!
We couldn't recommend this tour enough, the tour guide (Bob), communication and hospitality met our expectations. 10/10 highly recommended to anyone young and old.
the tour is so amazing ! tour guide is really friendly and constantly engaged with you , teaching you about the cave and showing us the adventurous routes
Fantastic experience, beautiful cave. The tour guide provide great insights about the cave. Surprise that this package also include lunch too! Recommended!
The trip was fantastic..our tour guide Mad guided us to routes that were challenging yet fun with almost no people so it's like we had the cave all to ourselves. We did the whole works - crawled, dipped in water, climbed uphill thru rocks, etc. Would recommend anyone wanting to try this adventure to give it a go!
