One of the most beautiful places in Penang! Loved the kampung vibe and enjoyed the best Red Prawn durian! Shout out to our professional guide Mr Law who went above and beyond in ensuring we are well taken care of and in sharing his knowledge. ☺️
Thank you to our wonderful tour guide Lim for a great tour filled with memorable experiences! We enjoyed some really delicious Malaysian food that we would otherwise not have known to order. Special experiences were the fishing village and sighting the weaver bird and its remarkable nest. We love to chat to the locals whenever we can and Lin was happy to wait patiently while we did so. He was also a treasure trove of information about the history of the area and cultural practises. It was a great day!
We had gone for the Evening tour a few days before this, so when we went for this Morning tour, Jenny tweaked our itinerary to add in other places so that there was no overlap :) Really enjoyed having breakfast like a local, before heading to the nutmeg farm and belacan shop. Once again, a very fun experience, highly recommended!! Thanks Jenny 🤩
Jenny is extremely knowledgeable about the entire place (Balik Pulau), sharing little tidbits of info as we went along to the different places in the itinerary. We were also extremely lucky to have had the last two bowls of super delicious assam laksa at Kim Laksa, even though it was not in the itinerary I think! The sunset was also beautiful - we tried to see the sunset from Georgetown the next day and it was impossible because it was blocked by this Pulau. Hence, the entire tour was a very enjoyable experience. Thank you!
Had a wonderful morning tour with Jenny. Jenny was very engaging, shared a lot about local history and life in Penang. A very unique tour and different experience that I would recommend if you are in Penang. Balik Pulau is a beautiful countryside, the itinerary was well planned, with breakfast and lunch at local spots (also stopped by for chendol better than those in town), nutmeg factory, belachan factory and rice field. Was comfortable throughout in the car and enjoyed the insights and conversations with Jenny!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the countryside with Mr. Law. He was very knowledgeable and took excellent care of us. He added in some extra stops that were not on the itinerary and answered all our questions about Malaysia and beyond. I highly recommend Mr. Law and this relaxing tour to have a break from the city and see the Island in more detail.
Despite the intermittent sunshine and clouds on the day of our tour, we weren't disappointed at all; instead, we thoroughly enjoyed the rich, rustic atmosphere! We appreciate our guide, James, for his attentive explanations and leadership throughout the trip. During the journey, we gained in-depth knowledge of Penang's communities, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town's old district, and the harmony and unique characteristics of different religions. We savored the local cuisine and experienced the charm of the fishing village in Balik Pulau. We also visited the nutmeg factory, showcasing Malaysia's unique spice since ancient times, and the shrimp paste factory, a must-have condiment in local cuisine. We not only enjoyed the delicious nutmeg juice but also had the opportunity to buy souvenirs and bring the flavors home! Before returning, we went to admire the paddy fields and distinctive container art. The lush green rice had already been harvested, and the sunlit paddy fields were filled with the atmosphere of nature. After the rain, the clear sky saw flocks of birds, large and small, darting back and forth, a truly mesmerizing sight. As the car meandered through the paddy field paths, we discovered extraordinary bird nests hanging in the trees, which was a real eye-opener! Finally, we savored authentic Laksa noodles and snacks before concluding our half-day tour and returning to George Town. Thank you, James, for your professional guidance and attentive care throughout the entire journey!
We had a wonderful time on the Balik Pulau half-day tour, all thanks to our amazing guide, Mr. CC Ang. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and thoughtful throughout the experience. From sharing local stories and culture to making sure we were comfortable and engaged, Mr. CC Ang went above and beyond to make the tour memorable. His passion for the region truly shines through, and we especially appreciated his personal touches. Thank you, Mr. Ang, for making our day so special. We’ll definitely remember this tour for a long time to come! Highly recommended.
Enjoyable day trip to Balik Pulau with amiable and chatty guide, Jenny, who fetched us directly from our AirBnB at 9am as my husband and I were the only two guests on the day of our outing. The breakfast, Penang prawn noodles at a roadside stall was delicious and we felt that the itinerary was planned pretty well. Eventhough the journey to and fro Balik Pulau took 40mins each way, it didn’t feel very long. However, it would be great if the day trip was more than 4 hours in total considering the relatively long travelling time. Overall, would definitely recommend, and we hope to go again … for the evening trip the next time and during the durian season! : )
We recently had the pleasure of taking a tour with James. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and ensured our group's comfort and safety throughout the tour especially when we have seniors in the trip with us. The information provided was engaging, informative and perfectly balanced, allowing us to fully appreciate the history, culture and beauty of the area.
