What To Expect

Temples, temples, temples… well, that is why you're in Siem Reap after all. This tour is hands down the best way to explore Cambodia's incredible feats of religious architecture. Begin at Ta Prohm temple, where ancient stones and massive tree roots are locked in battle. These ruins overgrown with trees made the atmospheric backdrop for scenes in the 'Tomb Raider' movies. Then it's onwards to Angkor Thom ancient walled city and the mystical Bayon temple adorned with hundreds of smiling faces carved into the sandstone. Roam further into the temple complex and immerse yourself in stories told by your local Khmer guide before seeking out a shaded area to enjoy a hot Cambodian picnic lunch, at your own expense. End the tour with a bang: a visit to the jewel of the Khmer Empire, the amazing Angkor Wat, where founding inscriptions are plentiful, and the Phnom Bakheng, home to the first of the temple-mountains built in Angkor. Reflect on Cambodia's troubled history and contemplate the secrets as you stroll through these masterpieces of architecture and engineering.

We were picked up on time. our driver was actually early too. We were quite happy that our tour wasn't too big. Our tour guide and driver were both very nice. our guide told us in details a lot about Angkor Wat's history and stories about the carvings. If you are taking this tour, be prepared there's a lot of walking. It's really hot and you should stay hydrated. We had 2 bottles of water eaxh included in the tour but there were a few pit stops that allows u to get fresh coconut, water and other beverages. Gents needs to wear short long enough to the knees or long pants. Ladies needs to cover shoulders and knees too. if u forget to bring something, there are multiple places to buy a last min sarong, dresses or pants. It is a long day so be prepared for that. Lunch was good. Surprisingly a pretty decent restaurant that wasn't overly expensive.

The trip is overall great value. You got to see the best of Angkor, the selected temples that are highly recommended by all. The trip was a bit too long (8am to 7pm) and the heat was quite unbearable in this season (or in all seasons in Cambodia?) We ended up skipping the sunset and took a tuktuk back. The tour guide is very nice, passionate and knowledgeable about the history and architecture of Angkor temples. But his English in some way limits his ability to share his knowledge. Still overall good experience.
