Guide
The Hanging Temple is located on the cliffs of Cuiying Peak in Jinlong Gorge, Mount Hengshan. It was first built during the Northern Wei Dynasty, making it over 1,500 years old. It is one of the best-preserved high-altitude wooden cliffside structures existing in China. Arriving at the foot of Mount Hengshan, one can see the Hanging Temple suspended halfway up the mountain from afar. The entire temple hangs on the steep cliff face, cleverly built to conform to the concave and convex parts of the cliff, appearing exceptionally staggered and rhythmic. Visitors walk on the suspended wooden walkways inside the temple, experiencing the magical architectural charm of the Hanging Temple.
