We were very fortunate to have Mr. Kobayashi as our driver when we booked a one-day chartered car tour of Kumamoto Aso on Klook. We went to Aso on January 23rd, and originally planned to visit the crater, but it was temporarily closed after the accident on January 20th and could not be visited. Mr. Kobayashi professionally helped us adjust our itinerary at the time, first taking us to Kusasenri to enjoy the magnificent scenery, and carefully explaining the terrain of Aso and the conditions of the day along the way, which made us feel very at ease. Finally, we climbed Daikanbo Peak, and it happened to be snowing that day, making the entire mountain view very dreamy, we were really lucky. Although the crater was not open, the whole trip was still very fulfilling and smooth thanks to Mr. Kobayashi's flexible arrangements and professional driving. The pace of the itinerary was well controlled, and the driving was very stable, which made us feel very reassured. If you come to Kumamoto and want to charter a car for an in-depth tour of Aso, I highly recommend Mr. Kobayashi.

The day trip to Takachiho was well-organized. I went to Takachiho Gorge in the morning, and the self-booked boat experience was very worthwhile. It was very special to admire the canyon scenery from the valley. After boating, I had lunch at a local restaurant recommended by the driver. The food was good and I could take a short break. In the afternoon, I went to Takachiho Shrine, Ama-no-Iwato Shrine's West Main Shrine and East Main Shrine. Ama-no-Iwato Shrine is related to Japanese mythology. Legend has it that Amaterasu Omikami hid in a cave, plunging the world into darkness. The gods tried to bring her back to the light. The atmosphere was solemn and full of stories. In the evening, I returned to Shinmachi shopping street to eat gyoza for dinner, bringing a relaxing end to the day's trip. Overall, the itinerary was rich but not too rushed, making it suitable for those who want to deeply experience Takachiho's nature and mythology.

A chartered car tour of Kumamoto for a day. Originally, the itinerary was to go to Mount Aso, but due to the helicopter incident, we couldn't get close to the crater. So, the itinerary was changed to Takachiho Gorge. We arrived there at 10:20 AM, and luckily, even without a reservation, we were able to go boating! Although the time was only 30 minutes, it was a really great experience. You can also add things you see that look good on the spur of the moment. That's the great thing about a chartered car, you can be spontaneous. Vincent, who provided the service, was very polite and also gave us lunch spot suggestions for us to choose from. It was very convenient to be able to communicate and discuss on Line. We rode in a large Alphard car, which is best suited for 5 people, so you can stretch your legs comfortably! Highly recommended!

As soon as we stepped out of the hotel, the driver was waiting at the door. On this day of the chartered car, we happened to encounter snow in Kumamoto and heavy snow on Mount Aso. The driver suggested we could pick strawberries, which both adults and children were very satisfied with. After picking, we went up Mount Aso to see the snowy scenery. The driver also recommended a great lunch, Aso Akaushi beef, and then to Uchimaki Onsen. Because it was New Year's, we weren't sure if the shops would be open, so the driver helped us contact them. Very professional and enthusiastic.

The chartered car tour arrangement was flexible, and the driver was very professional. Not having to research transportation methods myself made the travel process much easier. We departed from Kumamoto at 9:00 AM and the drive to Takachiho was about 1.5 hours. The driver was Kobayashi, who was very friendly, and the restaurant recommendations he provided were also very helpful! (It was my first time eating flowing noodles and I thought it was very interesting; the food was simple and delicious.) The timing was also well-managed, and we returned to Kumamoto just before 6:00 PM in the evening. This time, we visited Takachiho Gorge, Takachiho Shrine, Ama-no-Iwato Shrine, and then walked a bit to Ama-no-Yasukawara. The scenery along the way was beautiful, and the air was fresh. I highly recommend this itinerary if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!!

Our driver, Xiao Chen, drove smoothly and was friendly, introducing local customs and culture. At each attraction, he proactively helped us take photos from the best angles. Furthermore, after checking the weather forecast for Aso the day before, he suggested changing the itinerary to visit the volcano first in the morning. Xiao Chen directly accommodated this change and, based on the different driving times, recommended a local restaurant specializing in tofu, which was very delicious. As a first-time private car charter traveler, the experience was flawless. The car was clean and comfortable, making it highly suitable for travelers without driving experience in Japan who want to visit some of the less accessible attractions in Kyushu.
