What to expect

Cloisonné enamel, champlevé enamel, and mother-of-pearl inlay are traditional Chinese decorative techniques, particularly well-suited for metalworking and enamelwork. These techniques aim to create intricate, colorful, and durable patterns on metal objects, showcasing the exquisite skills and artistic achievements of ancient Chinese craftsmanship. Mother-of-pearl inlay, using pearl shells or abalone shells, creates iridescent patterns that symbolize luxury and sophistication. These techniques have been passed down for thousands of years and have profoundly influenced the artistic traditions of East Asia.

This course aims to introduce this traditional Chinese art form, providing participants with a hands-on experience to showcase the beauty and ingenuity of cloisonné enamel and mother-of-pearl inlay, and to create unique accessories in a simplified and easy-to-understand way (using colored sand that does not require high-temperature firing).
