The Aglianico grape, celebrated since ancient Greek times and praised by Latin poet Horace, flourishes on the fertile slopes of Mount Vulture, an extinct volcano in Basilicata. Aging takes place in historic 17th-century caves carved into volcanic tuff, providing ideal natural conditions of temperature, humidity, and ventilation.
