Reviews
The tour guide Guillehme was wonderful. The walk was easy and at good pace to take pictures and learn about the area. The food and drinks included were amazing and delicious. Highly recommend and return to when back in Kyoto.
Definitely worth the money, the guide was lovely and really kind. The food was beautiful with interesting information about the food origin. I took my 10 year old son who enjoyed learning that you are allowed to eat sushi with your fingers.
We had a great night out. Maria our guide (who is a local Japanese/Pakistani) was extremely knowledgeable about Kyoto and Japan' history, traditions and culture and was animated and personable. she catered for our group of different nationalities professionally and made sure we all were aware of each place, the different foods on offer and how each group could ve catered for. As a teacher myself, her organisational skills were spot on. she made everyone feel relaxed and kept any eye out for all of us whilst navigating the tour. it was an easy walk, and Maria made sure to engage with each group. we've been on many tours and this one was a stand-up, mainkt due to Maria and the great eateries we got to go to. give it a go. caters for all age groups.
I shared this experience with my 12 year old son and we both agree this was one of the highlights of our whole trip to Japan! Amy (our guide) was fantastic and despite the tour running over (as were were all having a great time) she was wonderful and shared her knowledge and enthusiasm for the food and the area with us. The restaurants we visited were fantastic and the food was reasonably priced and specific to the Kyoto area which was perfect (even for a 12 year old!). I highly recommend this tour!!
Transparency is key. The ratings would be much higher if that was the case. Fortunately the food was amazing, however, we had to pay for it all, except for the dessert. We were shocked as pricing was explained. We lost three members because of it. Maybe they didn’t bring enough cash and we know Japan is expensive, so it could have been a turn off. Luckily, I just withdrew enough and the prices were not bad, but be prepared to spend about 4,000-6,000 yen. I guess the tour cover table fees and guides salary only. I have done several food tours and they all included a set menu, but of course the prices were much higher. So, if you think it is too good to be true, the. you are right. However, the food is worth it!
The food was absolutely incredible and the drinks were genius! Walking through those narrow alleys at night felt like stepping into old Japan. Guide shared fascinating stories too.
This tour exceeded expectations, combining cultural education with incredible flavors in the most authentic setting.
The intimate setting made it feel like exploring with a friend who shared fascinating insights about Japanese cuisine.
Best introduction to Kyoto's food scene, the guide connected each dish to local culture in such an engaging way.
The variety of traditional dishes was impressive and learning their historical significance enhanced every single bite.
