Yadan National Geopark 🌄 It is the largest and most typical Yadan landform group in China. It was once the bottom of the ancient Lop Nur Lake. After millions of years of wind erosion, it has formed dense ridge-like, tower-like, and castle-like wind-eroded earth hills, like a “Gobi fleet” standing in the desert.

Western Thousand Buddha Caves 🕌 Located on the cliff of the Dang River bank, about 35 kilometers southwest of Dunhuang City, it is named for being west of the Mogao Grottoes (Thousand Buddha Caves). The excavation can be traced back to the Northern Wei Dynasty and continued to the Tang and Song Dynasties. There are 22 existing caves, preserving murals and painted sculptures.

🏯 Dunhuang Ancient City It is actually a film and television base imitating the style of Shazhou City in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Although it was rebuilt in modern times, it reproduces the post stations, government offices, streets and other scenes of the ancient Silk Road. It is the filming location for film and television dramas such as “Dunhuang.”

🏜️ Yangguan Scenic Area “I advise you to drink another cup of wine, for there will be no old friends west of Yangguan.” Yangguan was an important pass on the southern route of the Silk Road. Today, you can see the beacon tower ruins and the Yangguan Museum. Climbing high and looking far away, the desert is vast, and you can still see the magnificent figure of the camel caravan in the past, and a sense of historical vicissitudes hits you.

⛩️ Yumen Pass “The spring breeze does not pass Yumen Pass.” The existing ruins of Xiaofangpan City are physical evidence of the border pass in the Han Dynasty. The scenic spot retains the ancient city walls and beacon towers, standing in the Gobi Desert, desolate and majestic. Here, you can remotely imagine the frontier customs of soldiers guarding the border and merchants traveling back and forth in those years.
