This tour is worthwhile for those who don’t want to go through the hassle of driving in winter, with unfamiliar weather conditions. The guide / driver was professional and took great safety precautions of the tour.

Review for: 3 Days/ 2 Nights Tour (AA-CSI)

(1) It was expected to depart at 9:00, and we were required to wait for the pick-up half an hour early. However, we did not get the bus until 9:18, and had to wait for nearly 45 minutes in the wind and snow. (2) The guide tries his best to take care of each group member and explains carefully. However, glacier hiking can only go outside, but different groups in the same car can go deeper. (3) I only stayed in Thingvellir National Park for 15 minutes, which was almost like I didn’t go there. (4) Spending a lot of time driving, most of the time at scenic spots was short. I didn’t go to Gullfoss, Sver Falls, and Edlau lava field. I also didn’t go to the canyons and volcanic landscapes due to weather changes. Overall, it was a relatively expensive trip, and what I got was far from what I expected.

The tour guides did their utmost to explain all the way. Unfortunately, I didn't understand. The hotel ca n’t do it for two consecutive nights. Some attractions on the itinerary did not go, such as the breioamer blue ice cave, the tongue town of Viking, submerged into the urban area, and only a stop. There is one more point of Yoda Cave.

1. The glacier trekking and ice cave itinerary are all on the second day, which is different from the introduction, please pay attention. Just look at the small ice cave on the glacier. Not seeing the "big" ice cave, is it misleading by the introduction? 2. Each attraction only stays for about 30-40 minutes, which is short and a little hurry. The driver said that working hours should not be too long, unlike the introduction. Every day from 9 to 18 o'clock. 3. It takes about 6-7 hours to drive to and from Reykjavik on the first and third days. The next day's ride is about 4 hours. 4. If you travel in winter, you can only participate in local tour. Our last day was a snowstorm. Fortunately, the driver had experience and came back safely. There is a risk of driving yourself. When you see a car skating off the road or the car is stuck in the snow, you can only wait for road rescue. 5. If it is summer, it is recommended to drive by car + one-day trip.

The accommodation is clean, but there is not enough hot water to wash it quickly (about 5 minutes). The guide is very good !! However, some attractions did not go to the schedule.

it was a great tour! Glad that we made this choice. Wouldnt have done the wonderful Glacier hike and ice cave experience without this tour. This tour is highly recommended if you want a stress free holiday in Iceland, yet able to visit many magnificent places. To add, the hotel stay provided was over our expectations, with beautiful scenery surrounding our rooms.

For those who do not drive to Iceland, this tour is recommended. Drivers and tour guides (commentary) along the road, accommodation arrangements are comfortable, although the total number of meals is not much (Continental breakfast), but it is delicious.

More about Reykjavik Golden Circle & South Coast 3-Day Small Group Tour

Day One: the famous Golden Circle with Thingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss

The adventure begins with a pickup in Reykjavik before travelling along the famous Golden Circle route. The first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Thingvellir National Park. Rich in history and geology, Thingvellir is a must-visit destination in Iceland, where two tectonic plates are drifting apart and where the world’s oldest continuously operating parliament, Althingi, is located. From Thingvellir, participants continue to the spouting geysers at the Geysir Hot Spring area, where Strokkur Geysir erupts up to 25 meters into the air. The final highlight of the Golden Circle is the powerful waterfall of Gullfoss, or Golden Falls, roaring through a rugged canyon and plunging 32 meters. Travelling south towards the night’s accommodation, participants make stops at Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss, two spectacular and highly photogenic waterfalls

Day Two: South Coast with Reynisfjara, Glacier Lagoon, and Ice Cave visit

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, participants travel to the unique black sand beach of Reynisfjara, home to an impressive basalt column cave and the striking black basalt sea stacks of Reynisdrangar. The journey continues east through the charming village of Vik towards Vatnajokull National Park. Upon reaching the magical Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, participants can admire the lagoon filled with uniquely shaped icebergs drifting in a dreamlike procession, followed by a visit to the nearby Diamond Beach. The day concludes with an unforgettable ice cave adventure, exploring a natural ice cave and its breathtaking icy dome. Overnight accommodation is in the Skaftafell area, which, during winter and with favorable conditions, offers excellent opportunities for spotting the magical Northern Lights

Day three: All about glaciers

The final day offers a thrilling glacier hiking adventure. Accompanied by a certified glacier guide, participants explore one of Vatnajokull’s outlet glaciers while learning about the fascinating nature of Icelandic glaciers. Constantly moving and changing, the glacier creates unique formations such as crevasses and ice falls, which the guide will explain in detail. After the hike, participants board the bus for a scenic return journey to the capital, where the adventure concludes, arriving in Reykjavik between 16:00 and 19:00
