What to expect
At 9:00 AM, our tour will depart from your hotel in downtown Nanjing, heading first to Chaotian Palace. As the largest extant Ming and Qing ancient building complex in the Jiangnan region, you will appreciate the exquisite ancient architectural art and understand Nanjing's profound historical and cultural heritage as the capital of six dynasties. Stroll through it and feel the weight of history and the inheritance of culture.
Afterward, we will proceed to the Gate of China (Zhonghua Gate Castle), one of the best-preserved ancient barbicans in the world. You can climb the city wall, overlook the cityscape of Nanjing, and feel the wisdom and majesty of ancient military defense. Every brick on the city wall seems to tell the vicissitudes of history.
Lunchtime will be free for you to explore dining options around the scenic area and experience local Nanjing flavors (lunch not included).
In the afternoon, we will visit Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, the burial place of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the great pioneer of the democratic revolution. You will walk up the steps, visit the Fraternity Archway, the tomb passage, the mausoleum gate, the stele pavilion, the sacrificial hall, and the burial chamber, and feel the solemnity and reverence. The sycamore tree-lined avenue along the way is also an excellent spot for taking photos, allowing you to create wonderful memories.
Next, we will explore the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the joint tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, and Empress Ma. You will explore the Sacred Way stone sculptures, admire the magnificent stone statues and the Wen and Wu Fang Gates, and feel the solemnity and grandeur of the Ming Dynasty imperial mausoleum.
In the evening, we will head to the Confucius Temple (Fuzimiao) and the Qinhuai Scenic Area, stroll along the ancient streets, enjoy the night view of the Qinhuai River, and experience the prosperity and local customs of Nanjing. Here, you can buy unique souvenirs or experience Nanjing's traditional folk culture.
The entire tour is expected to end around 6:00 PM, after which we will return to your hotel in the city center.
