Just 1.4 km away, the North Korean border is visible from the observatory. Visitors can use a free telescope for a closer look and, if lucky, might even spot North Koreans in their daily lives—a rare and fascinating sight.
Since the Starbucks opened, the observatory has gained widespread attention, with major media outlets, social media influencers, and YouTubers sharing their experiences.
🔹 The Associated Press: “A powerful symbol of security.” 🔹 CNN: “You can even see North Koreans walking around—one of the few ways to look inside North Korea without crossing the border.”

It felt like a private tour with just the three of us and one other person, making a total of four. Our guide, handsome Kim, was very kind and shared a lot of information about Korea. The Starbucks at the DMZ isn't very big, but at the observatory, North Korea was so close. We were looking for people with binoculars, like searching for UFOs, and we saw someone riding a bicycle. Listening to Mr. Kim talk about the Korean War made me think a lot. On the way back, the person who came with us didn't want to go to the outlet, so it became a completely private tour. He took us to a local restaurant, which was a valuable experience. I would like to go again if I have the chance.
Booked a group tour but turns out to be a private tour of 2 😂The guide BK was knowledgeable and share the history of the Korean / Japan War and how eventually North and South was divided. It was a rainy day today but nonetheless the skies clear up to be able to see the propaganda village and the North Korean people farming along with their cattle. Visited the new DMZ starbucks, quite amazing to sip your coffee and have a North Korea view at the same time. It was a good experience and thank you very much for the personalised tour by BK guide. Highly recommend.
this tour is fantastic! our guide Erica was very informative and funny and always offering assistance with taking photos and offering cultural information relating to the experience. highly recommend this tour and Erica too! 5 stars!
It was a very insightful yet relaxing tour. Visiting the Starbucks with a view of North Korea is a must, plus the many pieces if information shared by our tour guide, Ms. Felicity. She is the best! The visit to Hyundai Premium Outlet was quite short though, but we managed to have our hands full with shopping bags 😅 Would definitely recommend this package ❤️
I was looking forward to enjoying Starbucks while overlooking North Korea, but due to insufficient participants, it was changed to a DMZ tour including Imjingak and the Third Tunnel. I was a little bummed because I imagined the tunnel would be exhausting, but I was able to enjoy a different café while looking at a steam locomotive destroyed in the Korean War and the actual Kaesong Industrial Complex. The tunnel had a very steep slope, and going down was difficult to walk and felt long, but going up felt faster to me and wasn't that hard. I was very satisfied with the wonderful guide provided by Ms. Lee Mi-yeon!
The last min availability to book this tour is really great for solo traveller with spontaneous trip itinerary. I joined this tour with Mr.Shin as our guide, he’s very nice and fluent in English explaining some facts about North and South Border. I appreciate the direct msg he sent to make sure to give instructions and spots to explore. The pickup Transfer/driver is on time. Recommended for the rest to book the tour! :)
The guide was very enthusiastic from the beginning. Our first stop was Aigi Peak, which had amazing views and was perfect for taking photos. The guide shared stories along the way and helped us find the best photo spots. The guide's enthusiasm and motivation made the whole tour experience even more special! After drinking coffee and taking photos, we went shopping at Gimpo Hyundai Outlet. I highly recommend this trip, it's definitely worth five stars!
Yeoni, Seoul city tour. They are very punctual, so arrive with plenty of time to spare. Don't forget your passport. The tour is just one stop and from there you can choose to go to the observatory, the exhibition, or Starbucks, there is plenty of time. If you order takeout, you are not allowed to drink it inside Starbucks, in that case order to drink there.
Great new itinerary, the tour operator uses an 8-seater car, which is more comfortable to ride. The smart tour guide is very nice and explains geography and history in great detail. I highly recommend everyone to sign up.
This Starbucks, which is just over one kilometer away from North Korea, was newly opened at the end of last year. The military controls vehicles at the entrance to the park, so it is highly recommended to take a day trip! The tour guide is not only responsible for helping everyone with ticket and park entry procedures, but also sharing the history and knowledge of North Korea. Outside Starbucks is an entire observation tower with no obstructions from which you can see North Korean land directly with your naked eyes. We even saw North Korean soldiers through binoculars. It was very memorable. At noon, we went to Gimpo Hyundai Outlet for lunch and shopping. This is also a place that is not very convenient for tourists to come from Seoul. It is very good to have a special car to take you there. There are many brands inside, from boutiques to sports brands. However, I personally feel that the discounts are average. However, there are not many people on weekdays so the shopping experience is good. Finally, I would like to give special thanks to our tour leader Felicity, who can speak four languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. That’s amazing… For those who like historical and cultural experiences, those who come to Korea may wish to add this special tour to their various shopping and food itineraries. It will definitely leave you with deep memories.
