It is one of the greatest cherry trees in Japan. The tree is 10.3 meters tall, with a root and trunk circumference of 11.8 meters. It is known as the oldest and largest giant tree in Japan. In addition, in 2006, Yamadaka Kamishiro Sakura was selected as part of the “New Japan’s 100 Famous Trees”. While the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, about 80,000 daffodils are blooming around the area, creating a beautiful contrast between the yellow underfoot and the light red above. In addition, there is a cosmic cherry blossom within the temple grounds, which is said to be the cherry blossom that the Kamishiro Sakura returned to Earth after traveling in the universe. It is also currently on public display.

【Crazuka Sakura】 The Crocodzuka Sakura and the Yamadaka Kamishiro Sakura are both Edo Higanzakura varieties. The tree is estimated to be about 330 years old, with a trunk circumference of 3.6 meters and a tree height of 17 meters. There is a high-rise tower called “Karazuka” standing in the farmland. On the ground, the tall and graceful posture is quite spectacular. Its majestic image was used in the opening titles of the TV series “Sakura Saki Kazuya” aired in 2004. When the weather is clear, you can enjoy Mount Fuji and Yatsugatake in the distance together. It is a precious natural monument in Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
