Shanghai Pass is a multi-purpose prepaid card issued by Shanghai Urban Tourism Card Development Co., Ltd. This card can be recharged repeatedly without any name, loss or withdrawal. The recharge is in units of 10 yuan and the maximum stored value on the card is no more than 1,000 yuan. This card can be used for payment in public transportation such as buses, subways, maglev trains, taxis, ferries, Jinshan Railway, gas stations, etc., and enjoys the government's preferential bus transfer policy. It can also be used for consumption in some convenience stores, supermarkets, shopping malls, tourist attractions, etc.

easy to collect and use. make it easier to take metro and buses. just need to top up value using the new machine, min Y50. Each metro ride is between Y3-Y5 mostly. As comparison to AliPay, AliPay will need good 5G mobile data.
Shanghai Pass is a rechargeable card that can be used in Maglev and metro stations. This is a convenient way to explore the city.
Collection point was conveniently located at the arrival hall. The terms and conditions for refund indicated as a notice at the collection point were outdated, so the customer service staff had to provide verbal explanation. There was a bit of a confusion at the start, but the redemption process was smooth in general. Many attractions such as the North Bund were accessible via metro with the use of the travel pass.

The counter was just outside the airport arrival. It was very convenient since we arrived at 2am but we were able to redeem it immediately and use it in the airport metro.
The counter to redeem the pass was just outside the arrival hall. Topped up RMB100 which was sufficient for our 4 days stay in Shanghai. Used it for Maglev and metro rides. Very convenient instead of buying single journey trips.
Easy redemption process. The counter opens 24/7. Topped up $50 and unused amt was refunded. There is a 5% admin fee for refunds. Card can be reused again for future trips.
