Start with thermal underwear, add insulating layers like fleece or down, and finish with a waterproof and windproof outer layer. Don’t forget a good pair of gloves, a hat, and warm socks.
2 Explore Onsens (Hot Springs) After a day on the slopes, nothing beats relaxing in a traditional Japanese onsen. Hokkaido has many natural hot springs, such as the famous ones in Niseko and Noboribetsu. These hot springs offer a perfect way to unwind and soak in the serene surroundings.
3 Savor Local Cuisine Hokkaido is known for its fresh seafood, dairy products, and unique dishes. Don’t miss trying the local specialties like miso ramen, seafood donburi (rice bowls), and jingisukan (grilled mutton). Be sure to visit a local izakaya (Japanese pub) for an authentic dining experience.
4 Take Advantage of Night Skiing Many resorts in Hokkaido offer night skiing, providing a unique and magical experience under the stars. Niseko, in particular, is renowned for its well-lit slopes and extended hours, allowing you to enjoy the powder even after the sun sets.
