- There are two ways to appreciate Mountain Lights. Once guests have entered the venue, we recommend that they head to the gondola stop and try their hand at a gondola ride. From above, you can see the soft swirling band of light at the foot of the mountain climbing up the mountain slope.
- Get off at the gondola intermediate station halfway up the mountain. There is a walking path that follows the light art, so you can leisurely follow the walking path and admire the light art up close while listening to the sounds of wild birds and insects coming from the forest at night.
What to expect
Mountain Lights is a large-scale light art installation held at Niseko HANAZONO Resort during the summer. This is the first outdoor exhibition of light in Japan by Bruce Munro, a world-renowned British installation artist. Visitors can take a gondola ride to view the 1.3km-long light art piece from above, and then take a leisurely stroll along the walking path to admire it up close. This is an attraction where you can experience art and the breath of nature surrounding it at the same time, and the sense of unity you get by being deeply immersed will enrich and stimulate your sensibilities. Feel the light art created by Munro, inspired by Niseko, a land that has been shaped over time by volcanoes, snow, and ice.

The combination of summer fireworks highlights the beauty of Mountain Lights.

Enjoy a romantic night with spectacular light art...Mountain Lights is an immersive light art that can be enjoyed from the sky and the ground at HANAZONO Resort during the green season.

Munro interprets the light produced by electricity as a modern ``fire'' and expresses humanity's shared experience using fire as a medium through Mountain Lights.

Munro's artwork ``Fireflies'' created using optical fibers are strung together in layers, creating a total of 180,000 subtle particles of light. The illuminated lights form a 1.3km shining band that organically shapes the base of Mt. Niseko Annupuri, blen
