What to expect

In this activity, travelers will get to put themselves in the shoes of Galle's fishermen as they head to Hikkaduwa Lagoon to attempt to catch fish in the traditional way! Start off with a convenient hotel pick up, and your English-speaking guide will take you to the lagoon where you'll be given all the needed equipment before going to fish in a paddle boat, just like how locals do it in the area! Learn from your guide as well as the fishermen on how to get good catches from the ocean. It's an interesting two-hour experience that is unique from other trips and activities you can do here in Galle. After fishing, you'll be taken to a local restaurant for a satisfying, hearty, and tasty lunch. End your activity with a relaxing drive back to your Galle hotel, with new memories to share to your loved ones in your home country.

Easy to book, easy to pay and pick up from hotel was punctual. But this is not an activity for a real fishing experience. It is not at all like the photo. Fishing is in a calm lagoon on a barge/pontoon with possibility of catching very very small fish. The fishing guide was a nice man but the activity is for 5 year olds. Good for children. Not good for adults who want to fish. On top of that, the description of the package included a "hearty "lunch. We were taken straight home after the fishing. When we questioned the driver about our lunch he said his instructions were to take us straight back. Awful and disappointing. The next day we went to a local fishing company and booked ourselves a proper fishing experience which was much better value (half the price to be exact) and we came home with plenty of fish for our dinner.
