A must go place to see the Korean War history. This tour includes taking a ride on the train into the 3rd tunnel which not all tours has. Our tour guide SooJin was very experienced. She brought us for lunch at a local restaurant which was delicious! But wished that more time was given to explore the observatory.

What To Expect

Learn more about the history of the conflict between North and South Korea in this educational tour to the popular Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Go deep into the DMZ, just a few miles from North Korean territory, to discover more about Korea's turbulent past. Despite its name, the DMZ is the area between two of the most heavily armed frontiers on earth. This no man's land is remarkably safe for tourists (and even world leaders) to visit, but is only accessible via group tours. Your guide will relate the fascinating history surrounding the area as you visit historical sites: war relics at Imjingak Park, the Freedom Bridge, across which almost 13,000 Korean POWs walked to freedom, the Third Infiltration Tunnel (an invasion route built beneath the border), the DMZ exhibition theater, and views of North Korea from atop the Dora Observatory. During lunch time, enjoy a classic bulgogi dish to fill your bellies.

dora observatory
See North Korea from the top of the Dora Observatory
third tunnel
Third Tunnel of Aggression or Third Infiltration Tunnel, is one of four known tunnels under the border between North Korea and South Korea
freedom bridge
The Freedom Bridge was used for prisoner exchanges at the end of the Korean War in 1953
imjingak park
The park was built to console those from both sides who are unable to return to their hometowns, friends, and families because of the division of Korea

Definitely a must do when visiting. A great tour exploring the history, boarder line & seeing North Korea from a distance. Best part would definitely be our amazingly knowledgeable tour guide. She thoroughly explained everything and made sure we understood. The food was amazing & perfect way to end the tour. Highly recommend this and would definitely do this again on my next visit!

The activity is an eye opening. You got to know more of the Korean War, the persons, how DMZ, how Third Tunnel. Got to see the 3rd Tunnel riding train in going there. The experience is excellent, on time departure aboard big bus, good english speaking guide, superb lunch

Our tour guide was very kind and pleasant. Lunch was delicious. Walk through the tunnel is a little inconvenient for tall people. Overall, it was a nice tour.

It was a good learning experience, the tour leader is a fun person too. It was dissapointing that we didnt get to see the freedom bridge as there was ginseng festival going on.
