Question 1: How would you describe your Japan trip in 3 words?

cherry blossom viewing garden with tourists
     Hazel: Traditional, iconic and cultural
Mommy Haidee: Fast-paced, safe, and inexpensive

Question 2: How is it like traveling with your mom in a country like Japan?

Hazel: Japan has always been our go to — my mom and I usually go there almost every month because there’s just so much to explore, do, and try. I believe Japan is one of the most tourist- friendly countries, it’s 💯 safe and the locals are very helpful. Aside from that, expenses [are] at a minimum because everything is affordable too — perfect for my mom and I!

Question 3: What are highlights of your trip?

    three akita-inu puppies
Hazel: For years of going back and forth to Japan, it’s my first time to play with Akita dogs — I didn’t know there was an available activity where we can interact and walk with them for a long time! We can take photos under a cherry blossom tree and by the snow! It’s also my first time living in a Farmer’s house — they *literally* welcomed us into their home, cooked[for us] their traditional meals together and we bonded over drinks while stargazing! It’s one of the best activities I have ever tried in Japan. Glad Klook offers unique activities we didn’t know existed.

Mommy Haidee: Discovering the Tohoku Region – it was our first time. Experiencing overnight stay in a  Japanese farmhouse. Playing in the snow and seeing cherry blossoms again after 3 years was surreal!

Question 4: How is it like traveling during cherry blossom season?

Hazel: I feel lucky because cherry blossoms don’t bloom for long and it’s only available during a specific period — [that is] the reason why it’s a major bucket list for everyone! When I saw the cherry blossom trees in bloom, it was so beautiful, making everything peaceful and calm. There are lots of people taking photos, but because the tree is big and full, you can still get beautiful shots. And the weather is cold so all the more you can feel you’re in a different place!

Mommy Haidee: Traveling during cherry blossom season will give you gorgeous photos and perfect weather,  but a bit pricey in terms of plane tickets and accommodation since tourists from all over the world fly to Japan during this season.

Question 5: How did you prepare for your trip in terms of things to bring, clothing, necessary travel essentials?

Hazel: My first action is to check on the weather of where I’m going — to know what clothes are proper to wear. Next, I check all the activities available via Klook (yes I always do this I swear!), and then I create my itinerary from there. Although there are a lot of common itineraries available for Japan, you can see unique ones while browsing the Klook website — some unheard of and unique! I think it’s also best to have your “to bring” list for your every trip too, so you won’t forget your essentials — for me it’s my tech stuff and makeup so! 🥳🙈✨
Mommy Haidee: Remember that you are a visitor or tourist in another country which means time is limited. if there is something you want, get it right there. Don't assume there's a lot of time to come back to certain areas! Be decisive.

Question 6: Would you recommend traveling to Japan during cherry blossom season?

Hazel: I think it’s the best season of all. The weather is the perfect balance of warm and cold — so you don’t have heavy luggage because of winter clothes! The whole city is also very beautiful because of the sakura trees and it’s a vibe like no other and the best way to experience Japan. More than that, a lot of popular Japanese stores sell limited edition Sakura merchandise for collectibles so it’s really amazing to shop too!
Mommy Haidee: Definitely, highly recommended. It’s such a beautiful site everywhere and the weather is just perfect especially if you come from a tropical country like the Philippines.
