Just like any other trip, you’ll need to plan ahead in able to get your scuba diving certification. Before actually treading in the ocean, you’ll need to go to a dive shop or resort with PADI-certified instructors to train you. This is why it’s essential to make a list of all the scuba diving gear 🥽 and documents to bring just in case it’s needed. Even though scuba diving gears are inclusive of your classes, you’ll still have to bring other essentials such as extra clothing, towel, cameras 📸, and more.
Klook Tip: Don’t forget to invest in a good dry bag that can fit your valuables, spare clothes, and towel.

    2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions

Don’t worry, the experienced and licensed diving instructors you get on Klook will fill in the gaps and a lot of those who have tried the diving lessons enjoyed this experience 🏊!

As silly as it may sound, being calm and relaxed can do so much especially if you’re underwater. As your adrenaline starts to hype you up before diving, being anxious and overwhelmed is a normal feeling, too. Don’t forget to take deep breaths 🧘 and just focus on what the instructor will tell you. Usually, before you go underwater, the instructor will tell you about the conditions of the ocean 🌊 and what to expect once you dive deep down. Being in control of your breathing can be beneficial for you and never, ever hold your breath. Once you’re underwater, just start breathing normally and stay close to your diving buddy.
Klook Tip: Equalizing your ears by pinching your nose and gently blowing through your closed mouth or swallowing can help you with the high water pressure as you dive deeper.

    4. Prepare for seasickness

Some dive spots are accessible by the shore but others will require you to go on a boat ride before actually reaching the spot. Other divers can experience seasickness and if that’s also the case with you, it’s important to come prepared. Find out if you’re doing a boat dive and have a little something before hopping on the boat. You can also take medicine 💊 before actually riding or simply tell your instructor if you aren’t feeling well 😷.

    5. Stay hydrated

It may be a basic and common tip but this is probably one of the most important things that you shouldn’t overlook when you’re trying to get your scuba diving certification. You might not notice it since you’re already wet but scuba diving is a physically demanding activity so your body will be releasing lots of sweat. To avoid dehydration, it’s important to drink water before and after you dive. This way, you’ll avoid potential problems like muscle cramps and decompression sickness 🤒.
