Room was very spacious , I liked the combination of traditional and modern setting ; however it was outdated and there was a strong smell of cigarettes in the hallway.

Staff helpful and polite, but very much aimed at Japanese tourist. Google translate is essential here. Rooms quite large and bed comfortable. Rooms very dated, water heater and room heating are clunky in terms of use. Onsen ok. If you going by public transport- get bus and get off at Ten-yu just a few mins walk. No obvious signs for hotel until you just outside reception

Great Onsen

It’s an old place & the hallway smells but it has a good bathroom. It’s only passable if you don’t have any luggage, only backpacks, location & transportation is not very convenient.

Large comfortable room. Helpful staff. Good value for Hakone. Hotel is dated and needs a renovation but very clean and everything in room was in good working order. A bit removed from nearby town of Gora leaving either a 15-20 minute mountain walk or a local bus. Walk is downhill to town but a relatively challenging uphill walk back to hotel. Didn’t try restaurant at hotel. Had a room package only and strangely they offered no information on menu or pricing for their restaurant.

Very close to Yunessan. The hotel also has its own public bath. A bit of a vintage location with very friendly staff that are very accommodating to foreigners as well.

Whilst this is definitly an older property, the room size and the mountain views are the real winner. Everythings was great....breakfast was exceptional

I recently stayed at this hotel. It’s very old looking, it definitely needs upgrades. It’s also an onsen which is not mentioned and I found out through a review left by someone else. They charge an extra $6 for it regardless if you use it or not. It’s very far from the main town. The staff is not very forthcoming with hotel information, you have to ask. They have a restaurant in the hotel but you have to book 3 days in advance! Again this information was not provided to us. We were told when we tried to go for dinner around 5:30ish. And because this is far from civilization we had to go to the nearest Konbini and take a bus. Well the bus stops running around 620 pm. We had to walk back in the dark. The restaurant was not full, they could have easily taken us in but refused. For breakfast again we had to make reservations, they did not provide us with hours of operation (and I forgot to ask) we missed breakfast. But you know what they didn’t forget? To charge us for the reservation and I asked them to remove it as we never used it. They did. The customer service was lacking. I would not recommend. Get a hotel closer to town. Hakone has pockets of neighborhoods.
