Exceptional quality for the price point - I'd expect to pay a lot more for the quality of the accommodation and the outstanding service from the staff. They were attentive, helpful and very friendly and made me feel welcome.
Mack (I assume he was the duty manager) went above and beyond and couldn't have been more helpful. What a wonderful place to stay - would highly recommend it.

The staff work very hard to make you feel welcome. Super friendly and accommodating hotel. The room was clean and a good size. I would return to the portland hotel and recommend to colleagues and friends.

The the staff were amazing. We couldn’t fault anything. On arrival we checked in at reception to be greeted with our room information and all information relevant to the hotel such as parking and food. We were shown to our room which was lovely very comfortable bed and the shower was amazing.
We popped over for dinner and had our son and grandson join us. Our grandson has a peanut allergy. They took this on board and catered for all of us. Dinner was a delight.
We stayed here last year when visiting our son in Northumberland, but stayed somewhere else after. On choosing a hotel for this visit, this one one hands down for the friendly, staff clean room and fabulous food. Thank you

My second stay at the Portland Hotel, Ashington and once again, they excelled. Staff could not be more friendly and welcoming (Jess and the guy behind the bar, sorry I forgot your name) looked after me very well. Room (I stayed in one of the rooms out back in the purpose built rooms) was lovely. Great to have a fridge in the room and a very comfy bed. Kept beautifully clean (Thanks housekeeping) and contained everything a traveller could want in a hotel room. Desk space, plenty of power sockets - I’m a very large bloke (six foot six inches tall) and struggled to get my legs under the desk but that’s MY problem, not the Portland Hotel. It certainly didn’t stop me working 👍
Food in the pub / restaurant was great. Good sized portions and well cooked. Speedy service too.
The Portland Hotel has now become my ‘go to’ hotel whenever I’m back in the North East. Book direct for special deals! (Ask for Kaliffa or Mack)
