Very nice room and great bathroom with a bath tub. Shower was ok.

Great location, clean hotel throughout and really helpful staff. Shower could have been a bit better.

I had to move hotel. Air conditioning failed and I asked to move room. They wouldn’t move me so I asked for my money back.I was fobbed off with a voucher and processed refund that has never materialised

We arrived at the hotel, having confirmed over the phone twice we had a twin. At front desk they confirmed it was a twin, we got to our room and it was a double. We went down to reception and they said they could not help us, even when we asked for a camp bed or just some bedding to sleep on the floor. After 45 minuets they got us a camp bed but then we were told the air con was broken and all the fans had been given away (it was 27 degrees). There several people had the same issue. We went downstairs and the night porter agreed to give us a refund as an adult over 6ft could not stay on a Childs camp bed with no air con. We left the hotel and booked and stayed at another hotel. We have emailed twice and are yet to receive a refund.

Avoid. One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I arrived on a day where temperatures had been above 30°C and was shown to a room that was unbearably hot. When I queried the air conditioning, staff initially acted as though they were unaware there was an issue, which quickly became difficult to believe. The response was essentially that there was nothing they could do. A member of staff then radioed maintenance in front of me and advised that if I wanted to take the matter any further, I would need to return to reception myself. When I later called, the attitude became dismissive and unnecessarily confrontational. I asked if I could be moved to another room and was told no. At that point, my only option was to request a refund and book another hotel elsewhere. What makes this even more disappointing is that I stayed here over 10 years ago and had a poor experience then too: dirty bed sheets, windows that let in every bit of street noise, and a member of staff walking into the room while my girlfriend was getting changed. I left that stay saying I’d never return. Unfortunately, I ignored my own advice and gave the hotel a second chance. Ten years later, I wish I hadn’t.

The Montcalm brewery hotel was perfectly located and particularly the staff is amazing and very helpful, I had a great trip.

Air conditioning was not working Staff did give me a voucher for food

The hotel is brilliantly placed for Moorgate and central London. The first time I booked they sent me to their sister hotel which I was unimpressed about as I had pre booked dinner in the pub next door. I came for a second attempt. My mistake I know but I left a wallet in my room. Instead of simply posting it they messed me around a few times to book my own courier and even then DPD couldn’t collect it. It is service that sets hotels apart and this was a second disappointment. Maybe they just don’t like Expedia bookings.

Nice hotel, but air con did not work in room so room was very warm.
