If there is one hotel you should be staying before you die … it’s Galle Face. I stay here everytime I visit Colombo.

My first time staying at Galle Face Hotel. Older property but unique and the staff service is amazing. I had just stayed overnight leaving back out early in the morning and I had breakfast in a box ready to take with me to the airport.

Friendly staff and great location

Lovely old colonial hotel with a past! Saltwater pool. Ocean breezes keep you cool in a hot Colombo. Room was very comfortable. Very easy to get a taxi or tuktuk anywhere.

Love the old colonial hotel with a history. Love that it was oceanfront so the outside areas always felt cool with a breeze as Colombo was HOT! Staff always excellent. Always easy to get a taxi or tuktuk to wherever you want.

The staff at Galle Face Hotel were exceptional; every member of the team we interacted with was extremely hospitable, welcoming and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Their service stood out and made the visit memorable. That said, the condition of the building itself was quite disappointing and did not reflect the quality of the staff. The room's control panels barely functioned, and the air conditioning was inconsistent at times. During heavy rain, the window seals were not adequate, and water leaked into the room overnight, leaving puddles inside. Again, the staff were among the best service we've experienced, but the property itself is in need of significant maintenance and upgrades to match the level of hospitality provided.

Great location very close to shopping mall and walk along " the Lawn" a popular walk along the sea front at sunset. Hotel has so much history with it being the first and therefore the oldest hotel in Sri Lanka. It is beautifully restored and has 4 restaurants. A great buffet for breakfast afternoon tea and dinner. The King of the Mambo is an amazing bar right on the sea front. A great place to watch the waves crash before you 50 m away! Vishnu one of the bar team was excellent. Reserved a table for us each night and remembered our drinks! Swimming pool is huge right on the indian ocean. We had a relaxing full body massage which was fabulous. We got a balcony room at the front of the hotel which had great views. The room was large, big shower and separate toilet. Lots of wardrobe space and drawers. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and give it 11 out of 10!

In the last 2 years we have stayed at this hotel 6 times with no regrets. There’s not a better hotel staff in Colombo—- from the general managers to the front desk to the concierge team to room care even the restaurant and bar staff all deliver 6 star service and care. Property facades needs a little upkeep attention but no lack of ambience or cleanliness. We feel like we’re returning home to family each visit. Looking forward to more stays soon.

Coming to Galle Face hotel is like returning home. The staff is the best around and I am grateful for their kindness and hospitality.
