As expected, beautiful spacious rooms with a refined and thoughtful local setting on a beautiful garden with the best looking Koi in Japan. Staff were friendly, responsive and helpful. We had to find a driver the night before when our guide cancelled and they found an amazing driver, fluent in English who kindly offered to also be our guide. Japan of course is overflowing with unimaginably courteous, kind and intentional people but still the hotel really helped us make the most of our last minute trip to Kyoto. Gym and pool are a highlight and again all restaurant recommendations were spot on. A very convenient location but tucked away in a serene property of its own. Not cheap but worth it.

Incredible experience from start to finish. The manager Ema went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. The omakase sushi experience was divine, grounds are impeccable and gorgeous and rooms are spacious and well appointed. Don’t miss out on staying here!

This was by far our favorite stay throughout our travels. The grounds are absolutely stunning and the food was delicious. However, what completely stood out was the way the staff went above and beyond in the most genuine way to welcome not only the adults but also our children, ages 8 and 10. The kids absolutely loved being sent on a “mission” by the staff to search for key facts and clues to ultimately earn a reward for their exploration of the property. The freedom and pride they felt as a result was priceless. While swimming in the pool area the staff brought a pool float is and goggles (without us requesting) and made the kids experience an absolute delight. We have never experienced this kind of warmth and kindness as a whole. Thank you to the amazing staff. We feel such gratitude being able to share Kyoto with you during our stay. The entire property truly allows for grounding and is an overall wonderful experience.

Best hotel in Kyoto. Exceptional staff and personalized high level service. During our kid sickness hotel arranged free transportation and translator staff for us in hospital. They provided us with many free amenities and complimentary breakfast. This hotel has beautiful garden and amazing tea house, one of best in Kyoto and this garden itself is place where you can spend all day enjoying in beautiful environment.
