The website really doesn’t do the hotel justice - we would have stayed longer had we known how amazing it is. The whole experience from start to finish was stunning - we loved this hotel.

This is a generally excellent hotel. No more on that need be said. You won't be disappointed. Except that the breakfast tea is terrible.
There is just one thing that we noticed on our last day. Breakfast is from 7am, our taxi was a 0730, a fairly typical departure time with either a flight or busy day scheduled.
So, any hotel guest who is there right on 7am is likely to be on a short timescale. The hotel should recognise this, and the staff should be aware. It felt like nobody was really interested in offering any service until it was too late. No shortage of politeness and smiles! - just glacially slow service until someone got the message and barked a few orders.

Terrible check-in experience. We reached the property at around 2 pm. We were made to wait for an hour before one room was given. The other room was given half an hour thereafter.
The rooms are not sound-proof. The noise from the corridors come into the room. The is no peace in the hotel. Too much chaos and it can be felt in the rooms.
The food at Lorenzo is average. The pizzas there are not good.
The good things - The staff is courteous and nice. The buffet breakfast is good. Great variety of food. The Sri Lankan cuisine at buffet is good.
Overall stay experience - average. Did not enjoy Galle and the hotel was a big contribution to this bad experience in Galle.

Stayed one quick night, beautiful facility on the water and a room that allows you to enjoy it. The bed was the best! I know it sounds kinda ordinary but great bed!!

Staff are warm and very friendly and they showcased the Sri Lankan hospitality. The Sri Lankan food served at the hotel was very delicious. But, I would've preferred a few more options.
