Beautiful hotel with old world charm

Beautiful hotel with an incredible history and architecture. But it needs some love to restore some great features.

Beautiful old hotel. Great value, excellent location in Melbourne

Great stay, excellent location

Location is excellent. The hotel is showing its age. The tv is limited to foxtel which precludes streaming from platforms such as YouTube and ABC Iview and also does not allow mirror streaming.There is no music device which should be standard. I would also expect a coffee making device in a hotel of this quality. The staff and level of service is very good. I would highly recommend this hotel despite my minor quibbles as listed

I loved the ambiance, the old world feel of the furniture and fittings. But I have a question - this is the second hotel I have stayed at that no longer provide toilet brushes in the bathroom. Is this due to some health and safety issues? And personally I prefer a shower head that can be moved down so that I can direct the spray of the water. The breakfast I had was wonderful, next time I stay I will hopefully be able to have an evening meal too. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was only there over one night but it was very comfortable

It’s an historic building that comes with pros and cons. I think the pros outweigh the cons, but it could really do with a fresh coat of paint inside -looks like it was last painted in the 1970s. Location couldn’t be better, our room was clean but basic, staff were friendly an helpful.

There are some indications of age but this is a very comfortable, well maintained hotel with a friendly and efficient staff. One of my favourite hotels.

A lovely spacious room with very comfortable bed. The only thing to say about this beautiful historic hotel is that it is looking a bit tired but it would take many thousands of dollars to improve the appearance. Still, the staff are lovely and the building is charming.
