[Fort Provintia] Very beautiful old architecture in chinese style, lovely well kept grounds and interesting cultural experience
Every summer I go to Taiwan, I always have to go to Chikan Tower at least once! Originally a Dutch fort, Fort Provintia that you see now is the remnant of a Qing-era temple-school complex. Perhaps one of the most notable Tainan attractions, Chikan Tower includes two well-preserved Qing-era pavilion buildings (Sea God Temple and Wenchang Temple) that each has its own small exhibits on the first and second floors. When you enter the Chikan Tower ground, you will also immediately see a row of turtle statues bearing giant tablets from the Qing imperial court near the river pond filled with Asian carps you can feed. After you are done exploring, you can chill in the front garden. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are a history buff or Chinese architecture fan! Chikan Tower is also next to the Martial Temple and Grand Matzu Temple, which are also significant historical attractions, and many good food places such as the Yifeng gourd tea shop and Duxiaoyue noodles.
Tainan is a city full of historical buildings, this one is special and beautiful. Lots of local food around this place. AMAZING
