Be ready to use Google translate to communicate with check in staff. We needed to notify them a few times that the room was set up for two despite being booked for four people (i.e towels, cups)

Great location for western travellers, a bit quiet but sometimes that is exactly what is needed, in between hyper active tourist destinations like the bund and nanjing pedestrian street. Rooms were actually cleaner than my group's hotels in Tokyo and Fukuoka. Laundry is easily accessed not far from the entrance, 30 minutes to wash and 30 minutes to dry, using commercial grade machines that are actually better than typical room based setups, and they were available for immediate use, in my circumstances. Only downside for us was that we would have preferred separate toilet and shower rooms, but for a 3 night stay it was no major issue. The television was next to useless with no apps for netflix, primevideo, disney, etc, but this is more to do with international markets and regulations and platform operating regions, than the hotel itself. Got iqiyi and yukou to work on the tv but not the subtitles. Good thing dinosaurs and giant snakes and attractive looking women skilled in kungfu don't require much translation to deeply appreciate and respect. All in all, would happily come and stay again at the same property and next to modern residential neighbourhoods and their beautifully manicured gardens.

The people who work here are absolutely fantastic, going out of their way to help you navigate the language, the local systems and transportation, food et cetera. This is a place I have stayed at twice now and will return to - well managed, close to the South Bund area, and very reasonably priced. Thanks!
