Air conditioning was amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Added water bottles was amazing as well.

I had a wonderful stay at the Bocardo Hotel in Oxford. This charming, family-run hotel is perfectly located right in the heart of the city, making it an ideal base for exploring everything Oxford has to offer. My room was much larger than I expected and featured a spacious king-size bed (by US standards), making for a very comfortable stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. They even kindly allowed me a late checkout, which meant I could avoid spending extra time waiting at the train station—a thoughtful gesture that I really appreciated. If you’re planning a trip to Oxford, I’d highly recommend the Bocardo Hotel. Not only is it a great place to stay, but you’ll also be supporting a local family-run business that clearly takes pride in looking after its guests.

We arrived to a locked door and had to use the intercom to reach someone. The intercom was pretty staticky and made it hard to understand what was being said. We did not realize there was not a lift, and that we would have to haul our luggage up a long slide of stairs. The check-in process went smoothly, but the additional flight of stairs and decor was disappointing. The room had a fair amount of bird poop on the window, which I learned in the early morning hours likely belong to a mourning dove that was nesting outside the room. . While I know this was an active nature. It was certainly disruptive. The air conditioning blew straight on you when you were sleeping, which made it very cold. There wasn’t a remote control for the TV. There wasn’t a nightstand on one side of the bed. There wasn’t a whole lot of space for two people’s luggage to spread out.

Location, location, location. That’s what this hotel has going for it. Walkable to just about anything you’d like to see near the university or Centre city. That was wonderful. Would have been better if the bathroom had hooks for towels, some drawers for clothes, and a holder for the bathroom tissue. Also would have been helpful to know that there’s a flight of stairs to go up as soon as you get in the door.

Overall clean property with aircon. fridge well stocked with water which was nice. Aircon worked very well. only downside was no lift but staff were helpful in helping with luggage. Coming from australia I did not know how the shower worked, the water pressure was too high for my child. Otherwise pleasant stay

Handy , shower leaked a bit but perfectly serviceable for a night exploring the city.

Clean room, helpful staff, good location! Easy to walk to everything from here. If you come during the World Cup, like we did, bring ear plugs to avoid disturbance from late night revelry in the streets. The pillows are too flat and the comforter/duvet was too heavy for the summer weather (even though the air conditioning works well and is adjustable). Otherwise very comfortable. Would stay there again but for those two items!

I couldn't actually stay at this hotel because it has no elevator, so I can't rate the property itself. However, they kindly upgraded me for free to their partner hotel across the street, which was absolutely excellent. Fantastic customer service.
