The rooms were large like an American hotel. Actually very convenient to the train station Kokusaikaikan. The station has like its own exit to the entrance of the hotel grounds. The room we were in had a shower room as well as a bath tub. The beds were soft and large. The staff are very nice.

Excellent gem of a hotel with an amazing history

The hotel is located on the last stop of the K line. It was very easy to reach any part of Kyoto and it was a nice quiet trip home each evening on our way back to the hotel. The staff was wonderful and the snacks that were available during the day were tasty and convenient. We stayed in a room with a king bed, the room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable, but the thermostat doesn’t have English so make sure you have your translator. We had the hotel do our laundry in the hotel which was a bit pricey, but we didn’t have a choice. The bathroom didn’t seem to have great air circulation so it did have a bit of a musty smell. The breakfast had both Japanese options and typical USA breakfast options. We would stay here again if we visit Kyoto.

This is an absolutely wonderful hotel! We all greatly enjoyed our stay here. My students and I had such a good time❤️ The staff is wonderful. The breakfast was our favorite throughout all of our Japan travels. I brought my students on a spiritual pilgrimage to Japan and this hotel made everyone wonderful while we were in Kyoto⛩️ I'm getting ready to make another reservation to come back with my husband in a few days.

Our stay was great. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. It is remotely located, which was peaceful, but still very convenient to get to the subway, less than a five minute walk. The staff was helpful and courteous. The meal options were somewhat limited - best to eat while out.

Amenities were sorely lacking

Clean room, good service especially from Sawamura who went out of his way to help us on more than one occasion.

The hotel is older but in a very tasteful way. Our room was pleasantly large and had a lovely view of trees and pond. We visited the chashitsu ( tea house) , so elegant. I can't speak of breakfast or dinner both seemed a bit expensive. So we ate at close by places. Enjoyed our time in Kyoto sorry to leave.
