The breakfast was amazing!! I have an egg, fish and sesame seeds allergy and I was still able to eat most of the breakfast. They were so accommodating. My bf and I were a bit iffy about shared shower but if you book the private onsen you can use the shower there! It’s in such a great area and walkable!

I wish we could have stayed at this inn for a longer period of time, but there was unfortunately only one day where it wasn’t booked. I hope to stay here again for a few more days. We loved kyoto!

The place is nice and clean. Staff are super friendly and service is great. However, they have too many scheduling rules and curfews. If you are like me and have a limited time in Kyoto and want to experience as much as you can, book this place for only one night to relax and then check in to a regular hotel. Also, they are not helpful in booking reservations or purchasing tickets for the sights you can’t book in advance.

Awesome!

We spent two nights at the Izuyasu and greatly enjoyed our stay. This is a traditional inn, which has been owned by the same family for seven generations. They were extremely hospitable and have a combination of family and English-speaking staff running the inn. The owner took the time to share with us the history of the inn and the significance of some of the decorations, which we very much appreciated. We had a Kaiseki dinner at the inn one evening and it was an absolute treat, with a menu that changes every two weeks according to the 24 Japanese seasons. Highly recommend this and it needs to be booked in advance. Holly and Enrique provided us with terrific suggestions on things to do in the area and restaurants. The inn is well located with easy access to sights, parks and transport. We took trains and buses everywhere.

Great and friendly staff. We asked for a birthday sign upon arrival and they confirmed they would have it but didn’t receive it. The breakfast could have been better with an explanation presentation

A gem in Kyoto. A short walk from Kyoto station, Kyoto Tower, Higashi Hongan-ji Temple and Shōseien Garden, this place is like stepping back in time to the classical Japan architecture, interiors and culture that drew me to visit. The staff were simply amazing. I stayed in a premium room, which was spacious and had an ensuite 2 piece bathroom. A traditional Japanes breakfast was served in my room. It was delicious and a great way to start each day in Kyoto. If you want an immersive experience of the charm of 19th century Japan, this offers that ambience amd experience.

Highly recommend! Traveling back to the past! This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in. Welcoming, the staff is wonderful! Loved my stay
