The check in staff was very helpful and friendly. He charged 4 MR as local tax at check in. The next day a different staff member knocked on my door even a "Do not disturb" sign was hanging on the door knob. He said I needed to pay another 20 MR for "Tourism Tax". I showed him that I paid the 4 MR at check in, he insisted that the Expedia was wrong. He said all hotels would charge me this tax even it is not on my receipt. So I changed to a different Hotel "Le Dream" for the next 3 days, they didn't charge me any "tourism tax" at all. I believe that the staff scammed me. Also we were not able to open the window since a strong sew smell come in the minute we did that. So beware that you might be charged extra "tax" depending on which staff is on duty.

The staff were warm and welcoming and helpful with ideas. The water turned off due to maintenance work and when we enquired that fixed it immediately. The room was clean, cool and comfortable. This is second time I've stayed and would come back a third time.

hotel is safe & clean

This hotel is good for those who want to feel the atmosphere of the life in the old shophouse. I felt like I’m having a home stay. The location is not convenient to access to the historical sightseeing area, but you can use Grab.

Nice and clean and the front desk and other staff are nice.

George Town is a culturally and historically rich place, and staying in Kelantan House offers you the opportunity to experience what life was like in Penang in the 18th and 19th centuries. The location is also quiet even if it's right in the middle of the city. Will definitely stay here again.

Big thumbs up to all the staff in particular Marcus with his knowledge and anecdotes about Penang and he even went out of his way to write a list of all the local specialties to eat We were also allowed to check in 2 hours ahead Great service ethic Definitely will stay again 👍🤗

It's walking to many nice food. The staffs are very nice and helpful. Should be nice and peaceful during off peak, it's probably more noisy if all rooms are taken up as the place is mostly wood, so walking around will create some noise. Overall, Im very happy staying at Kelantan House.

Super clean and a beautiful heritage house. Our room was very comfortable and even though the bathroom was outside the room we didn’t mind as this was such a great chance to stay somewhere special and unique. Complementary water, coffees and snacks were a nice addition.

Great value and extremely friendly and helpful staff. You can walk to the tourist area or there's a bus stop right outside. Nice tea/coffee/snacks all day long. The only downside is having to bring your key every time you want to use the bathroom.
