This was the best price. Beds big clean & very comfortable.. across the street from the beach and restaurants.., price is the lowest for a weekend trip

Not a good property. Only positive it is close to Hearst Castle.

Good

This hotel has good fundamentals (clean, good-looking rooms), but that's about it. Everything else is lacking: front desk attendant was gone on 3 separate occasions when I came to the lobby, with a sign reading "be back in 15 min" on permanent display. No blackout curtains in the room. The WiFi network is not named intuitively and thus difficult to find, and the guest WiFi doesn't reach the lobby area. Tesla charger is out of order -- but not labeled as such. (I let the front desk attendant know, but no sign posted when we checked out the next morning.) Free breakfast is decent -- but only one waffle maker, leading to long lines. None of these individually is a dealbreaker, but combined they tell a consistent story of poor management and lack of real concern for the customer experience.

There was blood on the door of the bathroom, the front and back doors of our room did not lock! There was blood on my pillow.

The room was fairly clean, the floor was pretty dirty. The hotel just look run down and shabby. The room or decently sized and it was someplace to sleep for the night. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good but the breakfast room is small and crowded. It is fairly close to the beach and Hearst Castle is just down the road. No one was at the desk when we arrived so we had to wait to check in and no one was there when we checked out so I can’t comment on the staff. Overall it was just okay.

All went well, initially the front desk person gave a wrong room it was not cleaned. We went back and he adjusted and gave second floor key. We said got elder people and can’t climb stairs so he adjusted and found a first floor room. They have a patio too but the graveling there seems to make it not much of interesting but overall it was clean and nicer and we stayed one night.
