The rooms in the tower have a very musty smell. I know that this is hard to get away from with all of the moisture in the air. The shower was an overhead spout that really needed replaced. The water more or less came out the seams versus the holes it was supposed to. I filled that for the expense of this hotel the food options should be a lot better. My fiancé actually got food poisoning from one of the pork loins. This resort never disappoints on its Beauty. That’s what always keeps us coming back. The coral Reef, and the beautiful water. We did go during seagrass season, which is fine but the hotel only cleaned it up from the shoreline one time while we were there in seven days. The beach across from us at the other hotel cleaned theirs daily. The staff is always wonderful. Things that I found odd this time around was the maid service would either leave one washcloth for two people or no washcloths at all. The Wi-Fi was horrible. Being on an island of course you’re not going to get the best perception, but we could not watch our TV almost the entire stay. I’m someone who watches TV to go to bed so it was very frustrating. There was not a strong enough signal to FaceTime or anything like that. The drinks are good. I continue to go back to this location for the beaches though.

The staff was nice and attentive. The food is good as long as you eat straight from the grill. The pool had clean water 3 of the 6 days we stayed there. The water was so cloudy that you could not see the bottom of the pool. As a pool owner, it takes a lot for the water to not be see thru. We room bed was old and noisy and small. Not sure how 2 grown adults can fit on a double bed. They were sold out of the king beds, fyi. The hallway lights came right thru all 4 sides of the main door, so our room was lit up all night. The shower is about 28 inches wide, good size for a small child. We only had hot water on 2/4 days, the rest was lukewarm at best and the pressure was inconsistent. I was told by the concierge that all the showers were on the small side. There are some villas that from pictures look roomier but they you have to deal with the bird sanctuary that the hotel keeps. The sidewalks are full of birds and plenty of bird droppings and a heavy/nasty smell. So to see the King's pool (magnificent) you have to walk thru all that too. Overall, the only positive is the location. The whole place needs a deep cleaning, I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

Beach

After searching for a long time for the perfect place to travel alone with my 11-year-old son, I found a true gem: Mia Reef Isla Mujeres. My priority was finding a safe destination with calm, beautiful waters where my son could enjoy himself without worries while I could relax, sunbathe, and truly unwind. This resort exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. They picked us up from the airport and took us back at the end of our stay, so transportation was completely stress-free. The best part is that you don’t need to leave the resort to have an amazing vacation—everything a family needs is right there. Every staff member was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. A special thank you to Katherine and the concierge team for taking the time to explain everything and making us feel at home from day one. The food was absolutely delicious throughout our stay. As someone who loves Mexican food, every meal was a treat. The color of the water is breathtaking—some of the most beautiful turquoise water I’ve ever seen. Most importantly, I felt safe and well taken care of the entire time while traveling alone with my son. It was truly an unforgettable vacation, and I can’t wait to come back. Thank you to everyone at Mia Reef Isla Mujeres for making our trip so special!

Overall the resort was beautiful and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful and really went above and beyond to make my family and I feel welcome. The view and the beach were also exquisite and so calm and peaceful - perfect for little ones! I also highly recommend snorkeling in the Kings Pool - a natural pool at the edge of the property where we saw many kinds of fish. The rooms themselves were lovely and had great views of the ocean, but the area of the property near the villas could be better maintained/cleaned. There were hundreds of birds in the area and lots of bird poop. Most of the common areas in the hotel are outside and do not have AC, so it was quite hot unless you were in your hotel room. Given the price, I think it would be good to improve the cleanliness of the area by the villas and get some more fans throughout the property but overall we had a lovely stay and were so grateful for the staffs kindness

My stay at Mia Reef was very disappointing. It was nothing like I expected. There was no hot water, the room and common areas were dirty, and there was no air conditioning, making the stay very uncomfortable. The overall cleanliness and sanitation of the property were unacceptable. I also spoke with several other guests during my stay, and every one of them had complaints about their experience as well. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet even basic expectations. I would not recommend Mia Reef until these issues are addressed.

We enjoyed our stay at Mia Reef, all the staff were very nice, helpful and the waiters at restaurant where the buffet was as were so nice. Also, Cesar the waiter on the beach went beyond anyone else to make us feel comfortable and he was on top of everything!

Great staff…. Friendly people.. While they had a Starbucks station with decent hours And the restaurant had good coffee.. The self serve island was often broke and kind of tasted like crap

We have stayed at Mia Resort in Isla Mujeres before and always loved the property, which is why we were especially excited to return to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, this visit was a very disappointing experience. The resort has unfortunately gone downhill since our previous stays. The property was not as clean or well maintained as we remembered, and the room category we had paid for was not available when we arrived. The food was okay, but the dessert options were the same every day, which became disappointing during a longer stay. We had such wonderful memories of Mia Resort, and we were truly hoping to create another special memory for our 10th anniversary. Sadly, this visit did not meet the standards we had experienced in the past. It is disappointing to see a place we once loved so much decline in quality. We sincerely hope the resort takes this feedback seriously and invests in restoring the property and the overall guest experience to what it once was.

Location, location, location!!! Hard to beat being surrounded by water on all sides of the private islet. Waking up and having access to Punta Norte everyday was amazing. Basically a giant salt water pool! Great for small children, shallow, walkable! The serving staff is the best! Front desk staff is great too! *Be advised on the “90-minute” sales pitch, super aggressive, just say no from the start. Not the most modern rooms, but again, it’s as maintained as possible and you can’t beat the location. Recommend renting a golf cart and exploring the main island for a day. The food is decent. The buffet has a big griddle where you can ask for omelets in the morning, fresh meats and fish for lunch and dinner! Would definitely return here!
