Easy to find, clean, safe & nice staff

The room was ok. It was hot out and the staff did not turn the ac on, so after walking and sweating, we had to wait a while for a comfortable room temperature. The bathroom had a barn door that slid but did not actually offer privacy. The place is fine if you absolutely need to be in this area. I would not pay what I paid to stay there again. Mostly due to the location. The plus of the location is public transportation. The negative is the street is very dirty and unfortunately there’s a large homeless population in the area. There did not seem to be security. You need a code to get into the lobby.

Lovely outdoor and indoor spaces.nice rooms with Comfy beds and soft sheets. The staff helped us carry bags up the marble stairs to second floor. Very helpful stafff and well located for BART.

Great downtown location, close to BART/Transit with parking on their own lot for a reasonable price. Only downside is this gate is manual and involves a padlock, not ideal for many people, an electronic gate would be better. Hotel and bedrooms are spotless clean, everything works, codes for main doors and room doors, felt safe from the outside world. My room faced the street but it was super quiet, well insulated windows. A complimentary water in the fridge would have been nice? Other wise it’s beautiful, clean and convenient.

Oakland Roost is a pleasant, well-maintained boutique hotel in downtown Oakland, convenient to the 12 Street BART Station. It provides good value compared with other hotel-chain options.

Lots of places to walk to get great food, before 9 PM. Afterwards, it’s pretty much a food desert. It’s great being two blocks away from Bart when you’re traveling from the airport. Very comfortable beds! Great size bathroom!

Loved my stay! Beautiful historic building, clean and comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. The boutique atmosphere made it feel much more special than a typical hotel. Once you step inside, it feels like you're somewhere on vacation in Europe. No elevator, but actually the staircase was beautiful (and manageable). Courtyard was charming too. They keep the building secured by giving you an access code. Good restaurants nearby. Excellent value. Would definitely stay again.

Not a real hotel. You will have to call their number when you arrive to get a code to enter the building, and the check in process is online. This is more like a glorified Airbnb.

Actually loved staying here, I always stay at the Marriott and the cost was like 250 more than a standard room here AND you get to contribute to local business owners that actually care about your experience. The vibe of the entire building was so cool and the layout and décor is stunning. Liquor store within walking distance for random amenities you might not find at the hotel late night and its close to everything downtown. Great experience and looking forward to staying again. The location is safe a secure, the street it's on might feel a little sketchy but it's just part of downtown. Don't let part of it being a little run down around the building stop you from staying here!!!
