My stay at Carta Hotel in Kyoto was exceptional. The room was clean, the staff amazing, the breakfast great and the service beyond expectations. I will certainly stay here again next time.

The one staff member at the front desk was AMAZING! She was attentive and great! Everything else at this hotel was more of a self-service than an actual hotel. Maybe they should advertise themselves as such and charge a lot less than what they do for what they are. From dirty and stained mattress to non existent room service and WiFi to soap bottle not bouncing back? I mean how cheap can a hotel be to reject a change of soap bottle and say "all the bottles are like this, they just dont bounce back". Basically when you pump the soap, the pump stays down. Thats the bottom of the barrel for a hotel. Even motels have springs in the soap pumps.

Nice small quiet hotel. I enjoyed my two nights stay.

Great central location to everything in Kyoto.

Near river and can easily cross over to Gion. Bus stop just outside hotel which one can take a bus to the main shopping area and other places of interest. Lots of food choices along the river Kamo. Property is clean, and staff accommodating.

We only stayed for one night but definitely recommend it and would stay here again. Great location and staff. Room was small but convenient and comfortable. We had a great goodnight sleep. Bathroom is super small but again, very convenient. Super clean

Simple, straightforward accommodations in a perfect location for exploring Kyoto Gion area. Our family of four used two rooms and were very comfortable for our 2-night stay. I wish we had booked longer.

Was in a good area. Laundromat and 711 across the road. Walking distance from lots of restaurants and nishiki markets. No luggage hotel transfer which made it dofficult for us. Room needs some colour. So white. Cheap stay and good enough for a few nights.

Spotless facility in a perfect location. Next to a bus stop and the subway entrance is very close. The front desk staff are very helpful. Great places to eat all around. Very easy to walk to some of the major sites. Highly recommend.
