Absolutely sweet little place Close to central area Welcoming was excellent

Such a great place to stay if you have a pet. My dog was greeted with so much joy and kindness. We felt so welcomed especially since Japan is so NOT dog friendly in general. Plus it’s only a few blocks from a beautiful park with a Starbucks. And there’s a bus stop right in front of the hotel so it’s really easy to get around. Oh and a Lawsons right across the street in case you need anything. And they even had a dog run on the roof in case you don’t want to walk to the park. The room was big for Japan standards and very comfy. I loved the huge deep tub too which was great after traveling to take a nice hot bath. 10 out of 10!

No elevator within the building. There is a tight window for check-in otherwise they will charge you extra, even though it is all done on your phone once you arrive. Furniture is tiny, 'couch' is torn up, and uncomfortable; not relaxing after a full day of exploring. There was a large dirty mouse pad outside the bathroom used as a rug? Booked a city view room but had a view of the alley and parking lot. After our third day, as we were entering the building, we were stopped by a stranger walking up claiming to be an owner, and questioned incessantly for our personal information before being allowed inside the building, despite already have checked in and having the key to enter the building. They said it is because of security but they don't understand customer service and how rude and frightening their behavior truly is. Building is not owned by Japanese / locals so you will not receive Japanese level hospitality.

Great location for visiting Kyomizu and Gion areas. Spacious apartment with a mixture of traditional and modern Japanese interior. Friendly owner but a bit difficult to communicate with he in English. The check-in and check-out procedures are done online at the front desk and seem unnecessary. The check-in time is too late at 16:00. It should start at 14:00.
