超赞 Reception staff were lovely. After a long journey (4 hour drive) I turned up late at night 10pm on Friday and they were welcoming, able to show me around, spoke enthusiastic re the building, pointing out the footpath to the Lake, and I was able to get a night cap, had a good nights sleep and was ready for breakfast the next day.

Fantastic outside space staff great breakfast good and rooms are good unfortunately this hotel needs a great deal of money spending on the exterior of the building and the steps to the garden also need attention

Good location, very quiet , only thing missing is air conditioner in rooms, makes rooms uncomfortable on hot days.I appreciate it’s a period property however, these days you could install sympathetically using new technology . Food excellent, service pleasant friendly staff.

超赞 A delightful stay. Room was spacious, clean, with great views. Lots of choice for breakfast. We only stayed one night but walked down to the waterfront in the morning which was definitely worth doing. Would love to return again soon!

Just two nights at this perfectly located hotel with mature lovely gardens and country house features. Very convenient for Ullswater lake and walks. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We could not fault the reception, bar and dinning room team, they were great. The room we had was spacious and clean, with decoration and furniture in keeping with an old country house. The breakfasts and evening dinners were well presented and of high quality. Although we are retired, we could see the hotel as an excellent wedding venue. Overall, great value and we appreciated the unique and wonderful setting.
