I want to be as upfront as possible. DO NOT book this hotel especially if you prepay. It does not match the description. You think you’re staying in a nice chalet next to the lake. However, where you’re really staying is on the backside of the restaurant across the street. The halls look like a dungeon with no natural light or ventilation. The room on the website looks bright and airy. It is not. There was one window where we could see everyone climbing the outside stairs to their rooms but didn’t let in much natural light. You can hear every footstep above you. The other window in the room faces a concrete wall that they put a lake scene on. That was our lake view. We thought they were just trolling us at that point. The rooms hold heat so much that the 90 F temps outside felt 20 degrees cooler. Their small park looks much bigger and nicer online than in reality. The view is great, but other than that there is no redeeming quality to this place. The regular staff is generally kind, however when we expressed our displeasure no upgrades were available. After one night we booked a nice place in Lucerne. Only after that did the hotel offer an upgrade to a lakeside room. By then it was too late. The manager wouldn’t budge on any kind of refund. The place was so bad we were willing to eat the $200 we lost. I’ve never done that before. Anyway, long story short, do not book the chalet. If you do, you’ll regret it.

Staff, breakfast and restaurant

Like: seating area by the lake and 24 hr free coffee/tea, both in the main hotel though. Don’t like: the chalet across the street from the main hotel is quite old with small rooms, low ceilings, and no air conditioning, quite uncomfortable.

The room was small with a low ceiling and low door frames such that I needed to bend my head often (I’m 6 ft.3 inches). The lighting was dim and the floors not clean. The tv didn’t work and the building creaked.

We only stayed for one night as we on motorcycles trsvelling back to the UK from lake Como. We had dinner at the restaurant and I can confirm it's was truly delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a typical old swiss chalet with loads of character and it was comfortable, not 5 star but it met out every needs

We stayed at the chalet across the street from the reception for 2 nights. Worst experience ever. Room is very hot, dark (incandescent bulb lighting which adds to the heat), bathroom smells like cigarettes, floors creak, and you can hear everyone who comes in and out of the place. Pictures of the lodge are very deceiving and combined with the newer, more expensive hotel where the reception is. It is also very challenging to get to if you’re taking the train from Lucerne especially if you have big luggages. It is less than 5 minutes walk from station to hotel but the street from station to the road is on a very steep hill. The only saving grace would be the breakfast and the views thus the 1 star. Other than that, it would be a zero.

The area, the chalet, the scenery were all fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The hotel/chalet park/Bar outdoor area amazing i highly recommend Caju - Restaurant, Grill & Bar..the owner Gustave..a good time. When in the Lucerne area, will return for more!

Sharing the bathroom was not the greatest but a beautiful location.

We loved our stay! The sauna was delightful and the staff very friendly. Our room had a very low ceiling and a door that we had to duck to get through. It would definitely not suit anyone taller than 176cm
