The staff were friendly. The setting and grounds were absolutely beautiful.

I stay at a lot of hotels throughout the UK and for the cost of this one I expected much more. The decoration was very tired and the carpets were in desperate need of replacing, the bedroom I was in (£168 with breakfast) had old windows that let the wind in and the glass was filthy, the double bed (2 singles pushed together) had collapsed into the middle which made sleeping difficult and the walls are paper thin and I could hear the next door neighbours conversation as clear as if they were in the same room as me. It is understaffed as they are scurrying round doing multiple people’s jobs, they were the highlight though, very nice staff. I feel a bit let down by this property as it promised so much but didn’t deliver.

Very expensive for food. Half board only allows for £60 per room for dinner. This does not allow for two courses to be included in the meal.

Great hotel and always well looked after. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel.

Wonderful grounds and buildings, but for breakfast the croissants and butter were both minimal/poor. Everything else was fine

Staff were lovely and I love the grounds at this hotel! Used the pool & spa facilities for the first time and they were lovely!

Beautiful place to stay. Kind staff & nice rooms. Loved all of it!!

1. Room had cat hair and cat food on the carpet and under the couch 2. Room did not have hot water for showers in the AM. 3. Shower water was scalding hot on the lowest setting (when there was hot water). 4. Stayed for 5 nights (Tuesday - Saturday), two nights had wedding receptions and one night there was a high school prom. Common areas looked trashed the next day (beer bottles, confetti and trash littered about). Also - loud music till late and just filled with loud people. 5. Rooms had phones removed recently (according to staff), and nobody answered the phone at front desk, so any requests meant having to walk down to the front office to speak to someone 6. The “pub” charges an extra 8£ to bring your food to your room (this service is free most places). There is quite a bit more but I will just write it off as “charm” because it’s such an old building. The lady who did our checking Tuesday evening was fantastic (she even held the door open for my family and I on several occasions without being asked). The grounds were also stunning and well groomed, but the littered confetti/beer bottles/pint glasses really dampened the experience. Final note - the grounds has a “well” in it, when looking down it’s just filled with trash… Not sure why, but that was disgusting. Overall - would not recommend or stay here again whatsoever.

The reception staff were most unhelpful. When calling the reception from my mobile in the room (not even an in room phone provided) it once took me 15 attempts over 40 minutes before they answered. The lady at breakfast was almost painful to listen to repeating the same lines over and over. The stairs to the rooms on the upper floors were terrible. Probably one of the worst stays I have ever had.

Beautiful property with well maintained lawns
