1. Mismatch between marketing and operations Photos are usually taken under ideal conditions (fully stocked buffet, low occupancy, premium setup). In reality: Lower food turnover. More basic presentation. Limited staff during peak hours. 2. Breakfast: the main pain point What you describe is typical: Low protein options → mostly carbs (bread, pastries, cereals). Limited or no hot items. Slow replenishment. This is driven by the Ibis model: Breakfast included but cost-optimized. In Italy, breakfast culture is lighter (espresso + pastry), which further lowers the baseline compared to international expectations. 3. Service Lean staffing → slower response times. In cities like Catania, service tends to be less structured than in major hubs like Milan or Rome. Focus is more on functionality than guest experience. 4. Location vs expectation This specific property: Is located in Acireale, not central Catania. Operates more as a transit/business hotel rather than a leisure-focused experience.

The room is clean and the breakfast was sufficient with many choices. This hotel promotes a laundry room with one washer, one dryer, which is very nice and convenient. However this washer room is there more for the staff, and when I arrived both the washer and dryer were full of blankets, aprons, all unattended. When I asked the one front desk staff for a little help with the machine, at her convenience, this employee was quite short, rude. She slammed the washer door and told me loudly that I did not do anything correctly. I thanked her loudly and did my laundry in a very cluttered housekeeping room. This was a terrible example of offering good hospitality to a traveler. I don't think this service should be offered at all as I found it inconvenienced the staff on duty. Just take down the sign offering the laundry room service. On the other hand, the receptionist who checked us in was awesome. Parking also very convenient.

It was my second time there: Wonderful location, quiet while close to everything, great breakfast, and wonderful staff.

It would be better if there was bacon and eggs in breakfast

Access coming from Messina is a bit tricky sharp left turn. Otherwise nice and polite staff good breakfast.

If in a better location, this is a top hotel. Very modern.

I didn't like the fact that there were no restaurants close by and the hotel did not have a kitchen or restaurant that you can order from.

Great hotel with fantastic modern rooms and very comfortable beds. The bathroom is big and huge walk in shower as well was very appreciated.
