Very helpful staff. Great location easy to walk around the city from this location.

Perfect location and perfect hotel

Another great stay at the Grand. From start to finish our time at the hotel was amazing. The turn down service is highly recommended. The staff go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Ian is just wonderful, so friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to return in a few months.

Very nice hotel in a historic building. Clean, quiet with a great location near the train station. The only negative was the overpriced food.

The best Hotel staff in the North of England. First class in all cases, very high standard rooms , great breakfast and fabulous location.

Beautiful city and hotel was as always amazing friendly staff

If you need a clean bed and spacious room close to the downtown area and the train station, this is a good option. Clean room and location this is it for this hotel. We have barely crossed the entry door and they were already hard selling an upgrade and other amenities. I asked why upgrade since we already had a suite but she could t explain the difference just trying to sell the 200 upgrade which we didn’t take, we didn’t beer it our room was huge and the restroom too. very rude hostess in the restaurant. Dismissive looked down on me. The gym is small but has the basic equipment. The bad thing is like a dungeon it feels like you run out of air not windows. The conditions of the hotel is good but not a 5 star definitely we would not stay there again. We were coming from a London 5 star hotel were we were made to feel special and we arrive to this hotel to feel like they were doing us a favor to let us stay there. Door man, Emily and Emma the bar girl some of the reception people kudos. York is definitely a place to visit since it’s very cute town with lots of history.

We had a lovely recent stay at the Grand Hotel. Everything about it was lovely from the welcome, the room, the service and the breakfast.

Booked for a birthday present. Was nice but we were in the Roman house bit which is a new extension so if you are wanting to stay in the original grand hotel you should probably request as I was surprised to be in a new extension. Also opposite the extension there were significant building works going on and the road could be quite noisy with bikes and car exhausts even on the top floor. Staff were lovely albeit housekeeping were a little slow at getting round to our room and the phone did not work so had to go to reception if we wanted room service or to speak to a member of staff.
